Johann Sebastian Bach

Johann Sebastian Bach (born 21 March 1685 (JK) in Eisenach; died 28 July 1750 in Leipzig) was a German composer of the Baroque period and a well-known organist and harpsichordist of his time. Bach is considered one of the most important and influential composers of all time, whose work continues to have an impact today. During his lifetime, his compositional work did not receive much attention, compared to his contemporaries Georg Friedrich Handel or Georg Philipp Telemann. Nevertheless he was known throughout Europe primarily as an organ and harpsichord virtuoso and as a master of improvisation. He also had an excellent reputation as an organ appraiser.
