Cleanup[edit]

This page was marked for cleanup per MoS:DAB. I removed the following entries because they either didn't include a link to a main article where I could check, or because they sounded rather non-notable (e.g. they weren't even mentioned on the linked-to article) and WP:OR. Unfortunately, they were also not enough to-the-point to be copied to wiktionary. Please re-include them if you have a link to a wiki article that mentions/explains them, but strip off unnecessary detail from the dab entry then please. If you have more knowledge about this topic, you may also transfer these meanings to wikt:doubles.

  • Doubles conventionally offer a standardised method of breaking down stereotype gender divisions in sporting contests. Note the existence (in tennis, say) of men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles
  • Doubles or partnerships have unique psychological dynamics as they fit neither into standard team sports nor into individual sports categories. This offers particular challenges in coaching
  • Doubles also refers to a mode of play in the video game Dance Dance Revolution, where one player uses both pads on the machine to play. Though the technical term for this mode is "Double Play", the colloquial term among players is "doubles"

I created a new page for Doubles (bells) though because that topic sounded promising for a full article. – sgeureka tc 18:33, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Someone ought to write about the Doubles forum/image board game. I might do it in a few days if I remember. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.234.132.50 (talk) 03:17, 19 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
