Cause of death gives the balanced views of various experts. Please note that although Nichopoulos, Presley's main physician, was at the time "exonerated of criminal liability for the singer's death, ... His license was suspended for three months. It was permanently revoked in the 1990s after the Tennessee Medical Board brought new charges of over-prescription." Consensus among regular editors who judge it important to preserve a reliable, mainstream view in this encyclopedia article is that the discredited doctor's opinions, such as those published in his 2010 book, and including his attempt to emphasize constipation as the likely cause of death, should not be propagated by Wikipedia, and hence receive no coverage in this article.

@Salvabl: I removed edits made by this sockpuppet[1] and restored the sales numbers. I believe you are concerned only about the sales numbers.

The 1 billion figure stayed on this article for many years. See this version. It does not have to be removed all of now. The 1 billion figure is reliably sourced and many other reliable sources are there to support it.[2][3][4][5] Also see the articles on Michael Jackson and The Beatles that have also noted 1 billion number. There is a consensus on the talk page of the "List of Best-Selling Artists" to exclude the 1 billion sales claims for artists such as The Beatles, Elvis Presley, and Michael Jackson, despite multiple independent sources supporting these figures. Editors agree that these claims are inflated and promoted by record labels and artists for promotional purposes. Therefore, we are not including the 1 billion sales claims for any artist. If you wish to mention these claims, you may add them in a hat note, similar to the approach taken in articles like those for The Beatles and Michael Jackson. Good day. I want to apologize because I did not check the content that the sockpuppet user added (I just considered it a stable part of the article); I find its removal appropriate.

Now, focusing on the sales figures issue, we have to keep in mind that since the end of March 2023, the 1 billion figure has not been present in this article for 1 year and 2 months. Therefore, the stable version of this article is the one that includes the 500M figure in the main text. So, I consider that the appropriate thing to do would be to revert the last edit, and thereafter try to reach a consensus on possible extension of the information about claimed sales, the figures themselves, etc. (as it is stipulated that it should be done, according to WP:ONUS). In the vast majority of articles about music artists/bands, claimed sales figures are stated in the main text (e.g. Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Beyoncé...). @SJones23: You must re-check the messages by both Orientls and TheWikiholic. I also agree with their position, as such we have consensus here.

Let me quote the relevant parts. Orientls said: "I had already included the sales number into notes to find a compromise. There should be no reason for you to remove it." TheWikiholic said: "If you wish to mention these claims, you may add them in a hat note, similar to the approach taken in articles like those for The Beatles and Michael Jackson.".

That said, this version which was being preserved by Orientls and you (for sometime) was the correct version and in line with what is also mentioned on the pages of Michael Jackson[6] and The Beatles,[7] since they have also placed the billion figure under the notes.
