Bartleby.com[edit]

Why is this link interspersed in the article? Is it supposed to be a 'cited reference' or an advertisement? Im-Mersion 15:51, 25 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Birthyear?[edit]

ODNB has 1621 rather than 1622, as does the page for his twin Thomas Vaughan (philosopher) (though the quotation given there in support of the year is unreferenced) Dsp13 12:44, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Henry Vaughan personally testifies to his birth year being 1621 in a letter to John Aubrey. Moreover, his tombstone specifies that he died in 1695, at the age of 73 (OBIIT. AP.23. ANNO / SAL.1695.AETAT. SUAE. 73.) Ianzenvs 09:34, 25 May 2011 (PST)

Conversion of the Jews?[edit]

Why on earth is there so much attention paid to this subject, which isn't even really all that prominent in Vaughan's poetry? It seems especially odd considering that the most famous reference to it occurs without question in Marvell's To His Coy Mistress, but the idea isn't mentioned on the Marvell page, just as Marvell is never mentioned on this one. If someone wants to draw out and elaborate on a specific theme from Vaughan's poetry, his concern with nature and childhood are far more traditionally significant and historically original choices. My god these poetry pages need work! (No offense.) (Eeesh 00:39, 8 June 2007 (UTC))[reply]

On second thought I just removed the section, since it seems clear enough to me now that it must have been a random interpolation by an earlier editor. Perhaps a book report or summary or something equally pathetic and unnecessary. (Eeesh 00:42, 8 June 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Birthyear redux[edit]

What worries me more is that according to the article as it stands now, Vaughan was born in both 1621 and 1622. A bold guess would almost be preferable. Bishonen | talk 21:27, 5 October 2010 (UTC).[reply]

Also known to historians of economics as the author Henry Rice Vaughan[edit]

See [1] and note the identical birth and death years. I think this page should be moved to his full name, but I will wait for a consensus before I make such a major change to this article. Eptified (talk) 09:49, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Place of death[edit]

No source is given for place of death at Scethrog. Is this meant to be Scethrog House (just north of the A40 between Talybont-on-Usk and Brecon)? There seems to be still some dispute as to whether Vaughan ever lived there. Martinevans123 (talk) 21:40, 6 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please somebody take the time to rehabilitate this Vaughan page. It is awful (-ly funny) and a blot on the encyclopedia.

Pictures[edit]

Why do Henry Vaughan and John Donne have the same picture?? They really are separate individuals. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.144.147.82 (talk) 21:05, 10 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
