This is not simply plausible, as she previously judged MUO-affiliated pageants such as Miss USA and Miss Universe. You can't judge an international competition and join it the next year. It would be disadvantageous to the other delegates, who may see it as unfair. Usage of Iran or Persia at Miss Universe articles

Hello! I wanted to prevent an inevitable edit war in this article, I would like to have a discussion regarding if the article will stick to Persia, as the allowed representation, or Iran. The Iranian government disallowed the Miss Persia Organization to use the name "Iran" for the Iranian candidate as Miss Universe, thus the usage of the term "Persia". I know this one gets fuzzy with stuff like Miss Universe Philippines 2024 including at least three individuals who are Americans or American residents – two from one state, possibly one or more a US citizen. So there is already a potential for confusion over nation versus ethnicity. We've had an issue in the past with a certain pageant's sash that says "Korea" versus the selectees coming exclusively from South Korea. The consensus seems to have settled into using the correct flag, i.e. South Korea, and notation, but indicating that the sash says just Korea. Whichever way it goes with yea/nay on entry into this particular competition, I think we should try to adopt the solution that worked for Korea/South Korea; any mention of the nation should say "Iran" (flags too of course, if used), with a footnote or explanation that the sash will say "Persia". I'll just say as a wrap-up that it wouldn't be nearly as fraught if we just didn't use national flags in pageant articles. ☆ Bri (talk) 16:23, 25 March 2024 (UTC)

I actually do agree on this, to be consistent with the consensus since this was in effect with Korea (South Korea), USA (United States), Turkiye (Turkey), and the Slovak Republic (Slovakia). Regardless of what is said in the sash, we would still follow the common name of the country. Regarding that, although there were claims of them not having the license (posted in their stories that expire on 24 hours), at the end of the day its still a claim unless with more tangible proof. And a single blogger saying that a certain country is not participating isn't completely enough since the poster doesn't even have the sole authority to say which countries should join or not. Since with the available public info we have right now she's crowned as Miss Universe Togo, I would say that shall stay that way until further notice since we can always remove her from the list if more information or proof debunking her participation arises. Apparently, the participation of the country was confirmed to be false news. It was observed that the organization itself lacks preperation of the finale venue and time to crown its delegate and. Not to mention the quality of the candidates and the visual graphics in its social media accounts (e.g. their profile name/picture Miss "Univers" Togo, and the introduction videos of eack candidates.) Also to add, the rumored winner Débora Agbawudzo haven't updated her social media accounts as the winner of the national pageant, which adds up to the issue whether Togo is legitimate or is taking their own participation. Some people have contacted or messaged the Miss Universe Organization about this for them to take action to this incident, but for now we'll consider Togo's rights for participation in the Miss Universe 2024 competition, as well as the winner and the organization Miss Univers To go, hoaxes. With that, I'll ask every editors (with or without user accounts; just IP numbers) that re-adding the country in every part of the article is STRICTLY PROHIBITED until the issue is resolved, whether Togo's participation is confirmed or a false accusation by Togolese businessmen. "According to Instagram"

@LikeRealTimes@Allyriana000 I have noticed in recently that certain information regarding participating countries have been added more frequently by some users which are allegedly according to Instagram. All they have is hearsay yet they are quite insistent on putting as they think its the "real info". How can we address this without resulting in an edit war? I do think its due to wanting to contribute but compromises the article's credibility and encyclopedic value via WP:V. Milesq (talk) 19:13, 7 June 2024 (UTC)

Well, putting warnings at the infobox and the SoP section was in my mind, but it seems more like a threat than a warning. Speaking of Instagram, yeah, Instagram is not the right place to gather data. I mostly fact check every MU account on the social media app, and sometimes I wait for the MUO to announce them. But on some cases, I dig deeper through news outlets and external articles to find sources of certain countries (e.g. Gibraltar and Bonaire). So the conclusion is, it's okay to look at Instagram for PROOF only, but don't just add them like they're reliable sources amidst the WP:V policy. LikeRealTimes (talk) 02:04, 8 June 2024 (UTC)

I agree with @LikeRealTimes, however there are some countries which are already confirmed by Miss Universe (through their National director posts) so those could be deemed as realiable. We should still used secondary sources as they are more reliable and signifies notability. Instagram is also not a good source as some accounts may be fakes. @LikeRealTimes I did a check on one user's contributions and they seem to have a habit of replacing already reliable sources into Instagram ones as seen on Miss USA 2024. Editing contestants

I need some help with editing the structure of the names and countries and hometowns of the contestants... What I mean by that is that if you go to MU2023 and then go to contestants, you'll see the name, country etc... everything small like very thin in every contestant. You know what I mean?
