Contra speedy deletion[edit]

The page called NXP should be retained to diambiguate the 3 letter combination NXP. User:Geejo did not do a proper job when he changed NXP to NXP Semiconductors, so the histories do still need to be merged from NXP (disambiguation). DFH 20:16, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

To make this discussion visible, I have temporarily commented out the redirect. DFH 20:20, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup[edit]

This disambiguation page was marked for cleanup per MoS:DAB. I removed the following entries for (a) non-notability, (b) no external allowed on dab pages (Wikipedia is not Google), or (c) I am not convinced that there will be a wiki article about these topics in the near future:

If you feel that one of these entries should be listed on the dab page, please write a (stub) article about them first. – sgeureka tc 09:00, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Should redirect to NXP Semiconductors[edit]

I propose to redirect this page to NXP Semiconductors to conform to WP:MOSDAB. It was full of nonconforming entries, where there were no corresponding articles. I've deleted them. It was almost down to one before I found that, unlinked in the dab page, we have an article on Twentynine Palms Strategic Expeditionary Landing Field (IATA code "NXP"). So there are only two entries. In such a case, policy is to have NXP redirect to the primary topic (which I suggest is NXP Semiconductors), and have a hatnote there point to Twentynine Palms Strategic Expeditionary Landing Field. See WP:2DAB. This allows users to get to the primary topic immediately, and allows those who were looking for the airfield to get to it with one additional click (as opposed to requiring all readers to always use two clicks, regardless of topic). I fully support this proposal. I prepared the NXP Semiconductors page by adding a hatnote to point to the only other entry of this disambiguation page Twentynine Palms Strategic Expeditionary Landing Field. Will seek for OK of the project.--Wosch21149 (talk) 14:52, 5 January 2012 (UTC) Addition: Looking at (samples of) the statistics, the airfield page was hardly ever accessed.--Wosch21149 (talk) 14:53, 5 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I understand it should just be done. Will do... --Wosch21149 (talk) 15:46, 5 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
