If not Islamic primary sources then what source would be acceptable?[edit]
Just asking,
if the moderator dont accept Islamic primary sources, then what does he accept?
Will an academic journal on this issue "Mut'ah marriage" be acceptable as a source specifically?
It is very hard to find such journals. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shadowwarrior8 (talk • contribs) 16:04, 31 March 2020 (UTC)
- Already been over this. And I'm not a mod. Read all of WP:RS and WP:NOR. Crossroads -talk- 02:43, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
Nikah mut'ah is not permissible in Shia Islam[edit]
In Tafsir ibn Kathir, it is mentioned that the Leader of the Faithful, Ali ibn Abi Talib (a.s.), says that Rasullah [ﷺ] said that temporary marriage is not permitted. The Prophet's [ﷺ] successor said that it is not permitted. And as we all know, Shia Islam revolves around Ahl ul-Bayt (a.s.) consisting of five people (narrated in 74 traditional Sunni sources of Ghayat ul-Maraam), the Prophet[ﷺ], Ali, Fatima, Hasan, and Husayn (a.s.), it is plausible to affirm that temporary marriage is not allowed

Sunni position update[edit]
Hi, can we talk more about the prohibition in sunni law about this. For example Ali disagreeing with Ibn Abbas about this topic. It is just odd how the sunni section starts in the 15th century in Mughal India rather than early sunni sources. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.28.199.31 (talk) 14:23, 23 June 2021 (UTC)
Criticism[edit]
“Nikah mut'ah has been used to cover for child prostitution.”
The source for that is BBC segment done by a group of British Sunnis. It’s like saying Sunni triple talaq divorce is a cover for any prostitution, because one can marry, divorce, his wife remarried, divorces and then rhey are back. All within minutes.
This topic is totally biased anti shia[edit]
To claim repeatedly that a sanctioned practice of millions of shia is akin to prostitution is absolutely horrendous and offensive in Wikipedia 86.254.10.114 (talk) 20:30, 2 August 2022 (UTC)

Yes, how exactly an intercouse between two consenting adults is prostitution? Cyborgyan (talk) 13:45, 5 March 2023 (UTC)

Change 'pleasure marriage' to 'pleasure intercourse'. In Arabic 'Nikah' doesn't mean marriage, it means intercourse. Zawaj is marriage, nikah is not. 2A02:A44B:48AB:1:5806:56A5:A5BC:3B8C (talk) 10:10, 13 July 2023 (UTC)
- Not done. 'Nikah' is plainly translated as marriage under usual circumstances, and no sources have been provided to suggest otherwise. Iskandar323 (talk) 10:43, 13 July 2023 (UTC)
