I wrote this topic from scratch. Only a German and Danish page existed on Bloch's term, which is now used regularly by commentators in the fields of postcolonial theory, subaltern studies, "late capitalism", globalization, etc. At some point I'll add a section on hybridity and transculturation, which also draw on this terminology. As It's not a stub and not a starter, and doesn't have C-class referencing issues, etc., I'm starting it off as B-class and low importance, as it seems to fit most obviously these descriptors. Lacking proper definition[edit]

The entire article seems to be concerned with a notion of economic contrasts between nations (such as between industrialized and developing countries). While Marx discussed this kind of contrast, it has little to do with Bloch's actual concept of internal non-simultaneity *WITHIN* countries, namely Germany and Austria-Hungary, where high levels of education, technology, and living standards met with atavistic, semi-feudal political conditions. It was *THIS* intra-national contrast between highly advanced technological, or technocratic, vs. atavistic socio-political conditions *WITHIN* countries that Bloch's non-simultaneity was primarily concerned with. However, this article pretty much fails to communicate this basic fact of what Ungleichzeitigkeit was supposed to mean. For instance, Jameson's "postmodernist" as well as the subaltern and postcolonial response entirely builds upon this false notion that Bloch was talking about disparaties *BETWEEN* nations. --2003:EF:170E:A434:A1:5521:B6F6:D64B (talk) 08:19, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
