Doubtful definition[edit]

I removed for the time being the dubious "definition":

  • "Psychosis", a generic psychological, Philosophical, Greek term for a soul state characterized by being in contact with reality: i.e., psychosis is the verb form of "psyche".

This meaning is not found in any of my 20+ English dictionaries all of which specify only the usage in psychiatry; no authority for the statement is given; if it is indeed a word with this meaning in Greek, but not English, it need only be in Greek language Wiktionary not here; morphologically it is a noun form, definitely not a verb form, in ENglish or in lassical Greek. There is a link to English Wiktionary psyche; but that gives that word as a noun and as the verb ("to psyche") though, incidentally, I think the spelling "to psych" (as given priority in hambers dictionary) is far preferable, as in "I am trying to psych myself up ..."
