Alpha Sigma Delta (ΑΣΔ) is a Christian sorority founded at Oakwood University in 1990. Its brother fraternity is Alpha Rho Delta.

History[edit]

On May 3rd 1990 25 Effervescent woman stood up to create a standard for young black Christian woman to live by. On the campus of Oakwood University Alpha Sigma Delta was created. Their vision was to create a place where Christian women could participate in Greek life and develop a closer walk with Christ. They wanted an organization that would promote building sisterhood, loving Christ, and most of all, a place where Connection and Unity thrives. On May 17th 1998 on the campus of Andrews University 5 women rose up to the challenge of creating the Beta chapter for Alpha Sigma Delta. They knew it wouldn't be easy but they wanted to build a place of sisterhood and community that would continue to thrive and grow for years and years to come!
