Counterfeit Viagra, despite generally being cheaper,[1] can contain harmful substances or substances that affect how Viagra works, such as blue printer ink, amphetamines, metronidazole, boric acid, and rat poison,[2] as well as talcum powder and commercial paint.[3] The annual counterfeit Viagra trade is worth an estimated $75 billion per year.[4]
Viagra is one of the world's most counterfeited medicines.[5][6] According to a Pfizer study, around 80% of sites claiming to sell Viagra were selling counterfeits.[2]
