Early on in the game, Devenanzio has made an enemy out of most of the girls in the competition, mainly Evelyn Smith and Johanna Botta, by throwing out derogatory slang and insults at them being a massive target to be voted off. Devenanzio along with key holder: Abram Boise and competitor Derrick Kosinski, in which both him and Boise lost against Kosinski in the Face Off: "Ring Wrestle", and even though Devenanzio was most likely going to be voted off, Boise requested to be eliminated due to some personal issues concerning his family and got his request despite Devenanzio still gaining votes via a 9-6 vote off; On Episode 5, Smith stole Devenanzio's key due to his bullying and sexist antics against the women on the island, only for Devenanzio to win the Face-Off: "Rat In a Cage" against Kosinski and Cohutta Grindstaff, and steal back his key from Smith on the next episode. Devenanzio was politically in decent shape for a good duration of the season despite teammate Katie Doyle being the ringleader to put an end to his political dominance, but more so due to people targeting Banks due to his size and performance on Gauntlet 3, and teammate Ty Ruff being a mediocre competitor. This season saw a small romance between Devenanzio and player on Red Team, Camila Nakagawa. Devenanzio was unanimously voted in on Episode 8 due to Derrick already having to prove himself by defeating Red Team's Brandon Nelson and was up against Duckworth, who had previously defeated Devenanzio in elimination. The elimination Devenanzio and Duckworth participated in was called "Back Up Off Me" however there was an unexpected twist known as the Heavy Hitters twist, utilized now as "Mercenaries", where competitors Chris "CT" Tamburello and Tina Barta were to go up against both competitors and whoever lasted longer would ultimately come back into the game. During CT and Devenanzio's match-up, CT was able to carry Devenanzio on his back dubbing the elimination known as the infamous "Bananas' Backpack" lasting only 18 seconds, in which all Duckworth had to do was outlast 18 seconds, which he did, defeating the two time champion.

Devenanzio was once again sent into elimination in Episode 7 in request of Wiseley's intention to take him out by flipping all of the kill cards to ensure he is in elimination. Wiseley flips all of the kill cards sending him directly into elimination against Devenanzio in a game of "Wrecking Wall" where both were neck and neck until Wiseley slipped up, fell to the start and Devenanzio being able to ring the bell before Wiseley could get back up, creating one of the most iconic eliminations due to Wiseley's cockiness by flipping all of the kill cards. Devenanzio and Gonzalez won against teams John Jacob & Simone Kelly, Adam Kuhn & Brittany Baldassari, Johnny Reilly & Averey Tressler and Jonna Mannion & Zach Nichols and officially rejoined the game. Devenanzio and Gonzalez were able to sway ally team Jordan Wiseley and Sarah Rice to target Bergmann and Jones, in which the latter lost the elimination, however this alliance was short lived after an episode later, Devenanzio and Gonzalez were blindsided by Rice and was sent into elimination against Garrett and Moore once again, however when the elimination took place, it was revealed Moore was disqualified from the competition due to the sexual harassment against Wiseley, in result Moore was replaced with previously eliminated Jones. Cory Wharton, who is apart of TYB alliance, had the power to select three out of four people in the bottom to eliminate on the spot, even though Wharton spared Tony Raines, close friend and ally of Devenanzio, Wharton also took out ally Darrell Taylor due to the fear of not being able to beat him, immediately becoming a target for champions CT Tamburello and Derrick Kosinski. Devenanzio won the second daily mission "Cool Under Fire" and targeted Wharton, solidifying their rivalry and being unsuccessful as Wharton defeated Derrick Henry in the elimination "Balls In". Devenanzio confronted Camila Nakagawa, former teammate from Battle of the Exes, due to her trying to save Wharton,, only for Nakagawa to be furious and leave in argument. Proceeding onto the game, Devenanzio hasn't won a daily mission since his "Cool Under Fire" victory and successfully flew under the radar despite having the largest target. After the purge, he gets into a showmance with new debut and Big Brother 18 alumni, Natalie Negrotti and in Episode 3 had a minor kiss with new debut and Ex on the Beach UK alumni, Kayleigh Morris. Devenanzio improves from his poor performance on the purge by winning the "Who's Got Balls" daily mission in Episode 2 and getting third place overall in the "#Vendettas" daily mission. He utilized his daily wins to target those who opposed against him, specifically Cory Wharton and new debut from Are You the One? 5 Alicia Wright, which he successfully takes out by voting them in and both respectively losing against Nelson Thomas and new debut from Ex on the Beach UK, Melissa Reeves. Devenanzio then goes on to win the "Gasping for Air" challenge alongside Tony Raines, Kyle Christie, Zach Nichols and Kailah Casillas, where the troika: himself, Raines and Christie target Big Brother 18 alumni and new debut, Victor Arroyo due to him being associated with an alliance that is gunning for his showmance, himself and Negrotti, in which works out as Arroyo is defeated by Real World: San Diego alumni and former champion Brad Fiorenza in an elimination of "Troubled Water". Devenanzio then goes on to participate and win the "Car Crash" daily mission despite maintaining an injury. He along with Cara Maria Sorbello, Negrotti and Thomas won the daily, with the latter two and Devenanzio being in the tribunal. Walker then convinces close ally Raines and Casillas to throw in Devenanzio in order to weaken Negrotti and to take him out himself. This successfully works and becomes one of the most iconic betrayals as Raines voted in Devenanzio after their 3 year friendship. Devenanzio and Walker play the elimination "Not So Bright" where Walker shockingly defeats Devenanzio by 2 light switches, taking out Devenanzio and changing the momentum of the game. Later in the reunion of the season, it was revealed Devenanzio and Melissa Reeves had a hook-up.

Final Reckoning[edit]

Final Reckoning the thirty-second season of The Challenge where the season was filmed in Hermanus, South Africa. The season premiered in July 10th, 2018. An opening purge once again occurred however this time Devenanzio did not participate nor could be eliminated due to his original partner withdrawing from the competition before the purge had happened[a][3], instead Devenanzio had to wait for the second daily mission to occur to receive his partner, who ended up being Tony Raines due to him betraying Devenanzio during Vendettas. Devenanzio and Raines were known this season mainly for staying under the radar and having allies continuously go home, however Devenanzio this season had a showmance with Bad Girls Club: Twisted Sisters alumni and new debut Angela Babicz along with the season winner and former champion, Ashley Mitchell as revealed during the reunion. Devenanzio and Raines have been a target for the Lavender Ladies alliance consisting of Ashley Mitchell, Amanda Garcia, Marie Roda, Shane Landrum and Sylvia Elsrode along with being a target for TYB, the Young Bucks, alliance that consisted of Hunter Barfield, Nelson Thomas and Cory Wharton, who debuted late in the game and was shortly disqualified. In Episode 16, Devenanzio and Raines were sent into elimination against Joss Mooney and Sylvia Elsrode, where the latter defeated Devenanzio and Raines in the elimination "Don't Trip Me Up" sending them to the Redemption House. In the final Redemption House, Fiorenza and Christie pulled the double cross and selecting Kam Williams and Kayleigh Morris leaving Devenanzio and Raines against Landrum and Thomas by default. The two teams competed in the challenge "King of the Ring" where Devenanzio and Raines defeated Landrum and Thomas 3-0 and officially came back into the game, only to shortly be voted in for elimination in Episode 19. Devenanzio and Raines were automatically up against Paulie Calafiore and Natalie Negrotti due to that team being the only eligible team since Barfield and Mitchell won the challenge and held the power vote. The two teams competed in the game "Milk and Cookies" where Calafiore and Negrotti defeated Devenanzio and Raines after having last 5 hours, sending home Devenanzio and Raines for good placing 5th overall.

Devenanzio competed in the males heat in the opening purge "Impending Dune" where Devenanzio got 3rd overall and 2nd out of the male alumni. Early in the game speculation arose that the veterans will be selecting the prospect of their choice, with Devenanzio wanting to select Big Brother: Over the Top winner and prospect, Morgan Willett due to her strong performance during the opening purge and her attractiveness. However, host TJ Lavin revealed that the prospects would be picking their partner based off the order they completed their puzzle. Morgan, who placed 2nd for the prospect girls, selected Devenanzio due to the same reasonings as Devenanzio had wanted to pick her, putting an early target on those two due to having the best resume out of the teams overall. Devenanzio and Willett successfully won the first daily mission "Arms-a-geddon Tired" and intended to target recent winner Hunter Barfield along with prospect partner and Love Island UK 3 alumni, Georgia Harrison, which was unsuccessful as Barfield and Harrison successfully eliminated recent winner Ashley Mitchell and Chase McNary in the elimination "Drone Ball Drop". During the next daily mission, "Search and Destroy", Morgan was targeted by girls Kam Williams and Natalie "Ninja Natalie" Duran during the daily due to having Devenanzio as a partner. Devenanzio and Willett are then voted into elimination and call out Zach Nichols and Zahida Allen as Devenanzio feared Nichols threw the challenge in order for Wes Bergmann, his rival, to win the challenge. On the reunion, Nichols stated he made a deal to throw the elimination for Devenanzio, despite the deal him and Allen won the elimination "Map It Out" against Devenanzio and Willett sending them home in an early exit at 29th/30th place.

War of the Worlds 2[edit]

Team US won the first challenge "Trench Warfare" where Devenanzio and teammate Jordan Wiseley convinced Team US not to put Tamburello on their team despite him cheering for them to win due to his size and how he will be ineffective in height or air based daily missions. Team US continues to win daily missions "Cryptic Crossbow" and "Paddlewheel Puzzle", the latter was won due to Team UK, primarily team member Theo Campbell, breaking the rules by yanking the lock off rather than solving the number combination. Team US' winning streak came to a close as Devenanzio and ally Laurel Stucky came up with the plan to throw the challenge in order to gain power in the game and eliminate a female on the opposing side that is on Team US, primarily Natalie Duran and Cara Maria Sorbello. Ashley Mitchell had quit the daily mission "Relic Runner" as she was heated over Devenanzio intentionally bashing into Mitchell and forcing her to restart her relic run, which caused an altercation between the two and an altercation between Duran during the losing team's nomination where Devenanzio lead the charge to her being sent in, but to no avail as Stucky was voted in by Nguyen and Love Island UK 4 alumni and new debut, Idris Virgo in the winning team's nomination where Stucky was eliminated, leaving Devenanzio out of the loop in terms of social prowess. During Episode 5, Devenanzio and teammate Paulie Calafiore got into an altercation in order to find out who would be in the tribunal if their team won the daily mission, which ally Josh Martinez decided on Calafiore. In the daily mission "Hooked", Team US won once again, with Calafiore and girlfriend/teammate Sorbello being in the tribunal along with Wiseley, who had the fastest swim time overall with 3 minutes and 15 seconds. Devenanzio and Calafiore made a deal not to throw each other in, however Calafiore makes a move and blindsides Devenanzio by voting him into elimination against Campbell, who was voted at the losing team's nomination. Campbell and Devenanzio competed in the elimination "Die For Me" where Devenanzio maintained a lead until he mixed up his sixth and final ball and lost against Campbell placing 26th overall.

Total Madness[edit]

Total Madness, originally named "Battle for Independence", was the thirty-fifth season of The Challenge where the season was filmed in Prague, Czech Republic. The season premiered in April 1st, 2020. The season introduced the "Red Skull" twist where you are required to win an elimination in order to participate in the final when it comes down to a certain number of players. In the season, Devenanzio primarily targeted Ashley Mitchell due to her similar gameplay to his but was more keen and successful, making her a target. But primarily so, Devenanzio and Wes Bergmann made a secret duoship to keep each other long in the game since both of them have been recently been unable to win their most recent few seasons. Mitchell along with Dee Nguyen and prospect and Survivor alumni Jay Starrett lead a charge to Devenanzio being voted in, however with Bergmann's dupship and Melissa Reeves alongside Cory Wharton backing out of the idea of blindsiding Devenanzio barely kept him from getting voted in, in a 8-6-5-2 vote. Devenanzio won Episode 4's "Cold War" alongside Aneesa Ferreira, Kaycee Clark, Stephen Bear and Tula "Big T" Fazakerley and wanted to target both Mitchell and Nguyen for leading a charge to take him out successfully getting out Mitchell. Devenanzio also participated in "Decontamination" in Episode 8, won his heat for the guys round but lost to Bergmann in overall time, but was selected to be in the tribunal to target Jordan Wiseley due to his prowess as one of the best competitors on the males side and was successful as Wiseley was easily defeated by Big Brother 20 alumni and new debut Faysal "Fessy" Shafaat via 2-0. Devenanzio threw Episode 10's challenge "Throne Off" in order to get a Red Skull, and was successfully voted into elimination, however his and Bergmann's duoship didn't last too long as Bergmann volunteered against Devenanzio creating one of the most iconic match-ups in Challenge history despite those two having went against each other in elimination on a Spin Off. Bergmann and Devenanzio faced off in the elimination "Charge the Wall" where Devenanzio defeated Bergmann with all 3 batteries to Bergmann's 2. Devenanzio was once again dragged into the tribunal in Episode 11's "Flag Down" by Josh Martinez and Melissa Reeves where even though he promised Reeves he wouldn't target Nguyen, him and Martinez decided to target Nguyen due to her altercation with Martinez and her sloppy social game, however was unsuccessful as Nguyen was sent in and defeated Mattie Breaux in the elimination "Tunnel Vision". Devenanzio won Episode 13's daily mission "Bloc'd In" alongside Ferreira, Wharton, Jenny West, Martinez, Nany Gonzalez and Rogan O'Connor in which the win turned to be no avail as Gonzalez volunteered for elimination against Reeves and lost. Devenanzio won the final daily mission in Episode 15 called "Crash Course" alongside Kaycee Clark and Kyle Christie. Christie and Devenanzio intended to target Wharton, however his friend Nelson Thomas wanted to volunteer in place of Wharton due to him having a second kid coming during the filming of the season, in which both accepted although Nelson lost against Rogan in "Hall Brawl". As for girls elimination, the tribunal came to an agreement to target Nguyen due to her social game and willingness to target Devenanzio, and was finally successful after three attempts as Nguyen lost against Jenny in "Hall Brawl". In the final of the season, Devenanzio was currently in third, however TJ, the host, revealed there will be an elimination in the finals where Rogan volunteered and Devenanzio was voted in 2-0 by the tribunal consisting of Cory and Jenny. Devenanzio and O'Connor compete in the instant elimination "Knockout" where Devenanzio proceeded in the finals 2-0 whilst O'Connor lost the elimination and ultimately lost the final. Devenanzio won the season on the guys side, getting second overall in the final to Jenny West, earning his seventh win on his twentieth season.

Controversies[edit]

Real World/Road Rules Challenge[edit]

Devenanzio along with Challenge alumni and winners Evan Starkman and Kenny Santucci have been known for their sexist remarks and tyrant bullying throughout a multitude of seasons with fans criticizing the individuals and their alliance known as the "JEK" alliance who are known for their dominant political game and bullying tactics where on multiple incidents, fans believe they have crossed the line and should've been borderline banned from the show as a whole seclusion.

Devenanzio is also known for a multitude of controversies involving sexual assault & drug possession along with verbal altercations and bullying that cross the paths of sexism, racism and misogyny.

The Island[edit]

On the second episode of The Island named "Calling it Quits", Devenanzio and Paula Meronek were playing around with a bamboo stick that happened to have landed onto Smith's bed. Smith then confronted Devenanzio on why the stick was there, holding a mini black and gold telescope. Devenanzio then retaliates by saying "Well what are you gonna do with that Evelyn? Take your telescope and shove it up your fucking ass cause I didn't fucking do that, you dumb bitch." in which during the episode, castmate Jenn Grijalva commented in her confessional booth on how Devenanzio constantly bullied Smith on a personal level with ill intent. Grijalva then confronts Devenanzio on the stick skirmish only for Devenanzio to mudsling Smith by calling her a retard and stating no one in the house liked her.[1]

On the third episode of the sixteenth season of The Island named "Girl Fight", Devenanzio first starts off by breaking down the alliances in a confessional where he specifically labeled a collision between Evelyn Smith, Jenn Grijalva, KellyAnne Judd and Rachel Robinson a "female fem-nazis misfits". He then in the next scene gets into a verbal altercation with Judd due to Judd wanting to cook the fish for the people but Devenanzio refusing, then later Judd claims Devenanzio was just eating the fish to himself. During the altercation Devenazio labeled Judd an "anorexic bitch" in which Judd tells Devenanzio to "shut the fuck up". Smith then interjects into the argument by stating Devenanzio only earned his key due to castmate Abram Boise wanting to leave due to a family emergency in which later Devenanzio labels Judd and Smith as retards, in which later Devenanzio labels Judd a weak girl.[2]

The Ruins[edit]

On the fourth episode of eighteenth season of The Ruins named "Girls Gone Wild", Devenanzio, Santucci and Starkman kept constantly bullying and picking on castmate Tonya Cooley when she was blackout drunk after she repeatedly told the three individuals to stop and leave her alone. Castmates Cohutta Grindstaff and Wes Bergmann comment on Cooley's treatment in the season from Devenanzio, Santucci and Starkman. Supposedly on the night when they picked on her then later pass out from the alcoholism was the incident where Santucci and Starkman sexually assaulted her with a toothbrush, subsequently three years later Cooley filed a lawsuit against Santucci & Starkman along with MTV and Bunim/Murray Productions due to the sexual assault allegations.[6]

Rivals 3[edit]

Bullying of Cheyenne Floyd[edit]

On the twelfth and thirteenth episode of twenty-eighth season of Rivals 3 named "Raging Bullies" and "Grapes Wrath", Devenanzio along with cousin and castmate Vince Gliatta constantly kept picking on castmate Cheyenne Floyd due to her name being mixed with the name "Chantelle" as a laughing stock, in which Floyd told the two individuals to stop naming her that due to it offending her in a way that makes her out of a whore along with Chantelle being a racist "stereotypical black girl name" according to Floyd. In the bar later on the episode Gliatta continues to misinterpreting Floyd's name by calling her "Chantel" and "Hazel" as a dig at her skin tone once again. On the way to their home via the bus, Gliatta continues to bully Floyd saying "She's very ugly. Terrible hair..." in which Floyd and castmate Sarah Rice try to stop him due to him becoming impulsive which starts an altercation between Devin Walker-Molaghan and Gliatta due to Walker being annoyed with Gliatta's constant bullying. After they arrive at their home, Gliatta comes after Floyd's skin tone by calling her "Simone", the name of cast mate Simone Kelly who was previously eliminated and then proceeding to make jokes about camera time implying she is a "camera whore". Floyd confronts Gliatta telling him to stop, in which to no avail only leading to Floyd threatening to quit the show due to being annoyed and tired of the constant bullying targeting her skin tone and gender[7]. Walker confronts the room consisting of Compono, Devenanzio, Gliatta and Rice in saying how he was disgusted with how Floyd has been treated only to lead to a near physical altercation between Gliatta and Walker. Devenanzio interjects by shoving Walker only for Walker to throw a drink at him. The next morning after the altercation Devenanzio defends his actions saying it was less severe than what Walker made it out to be, however all parties apologize and situation is resolved[8]. Castmates Dario Medrano, Devin Walker-Molaghan, Jenna Compono and Nicole Ramos then comment on Devenanzio and Gliatta's actions and treatment towards Floyd as bullying and impulsive and to this day viewers of the show still comment on how horrible Devenanzio has been to people in the house specifically the women of the house in a multitude of seasons saying his actions and bullying were both sexist and misogynistic.

Adderall possession accusation[edit]

Castmate and fellow winner from Rivals 3 Sarah Rice stated in front the studio audience of IBT that she caught Devenanzio with adderall, who was allegedly fined $5,000 for drug possession due to being caught with the drugs by a member of production. MTV has stated there is no evidence or proof of this accusation, however Rice still pushes that Devenanzio was caught with the adderall. No other castmates including the accused, Devenanzio, have commented on this accusation however Rice has stated she did not care if her statement had been blurred or cut from MTV.[9]

Final Reckoning[edit]

On Final Reckoning Episode 19's "The Walking Dead", Devenanzio and partner Tony Raines were voted into elimination by a 3-1-1-1 vote where Natalie Negrotti and Paulie Calafiore were automatically sent against them due to Joss Mooney and Sylvia, the winning team and holder of the power vote, being safe. There was an unnamed elimination involving sand and an hourglass contraption where apparently Devenanzio and Raines had won that elimination, however an equipment error occurred and was reported, hence the elimination was set onto the next day and the "Milk and Cookies" elimination in which Calafiore and Negrotti won took place. Fans are mixed on the situation. One side of the spectrum believes the elimination change and equipment error was unfair towards Devenanzio and Raines, who according to castmate and finalist Marie Roda, who essentially nearly won the elimination against Calafiore and Negrotti.[10] However Calafiore has claimed that production told him and Negrotti to eat before the Milk and Cookies elimination took place. Castmate and finalist Cara Maria Sorbello backed up this claim, and one side of the fandom believes this and another side of the fandom believes it was fraudulent and used to intentionally badger Devenanzio.
