J. Francois Eid is an American Urologist, specializing in penile prosthesis implantation. In the implantation of penile prosthesis, Dr. Eid has invented and developed the "No Touch" Surgical Technique for Penile Prosthesis Implantation.[1]

Career, Education, Training[edit]

Eid was born in Brussels, Belgium.[2] He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Brown University in 1976 and an M.D. From the Medical College of Cornell University in 1982. He pursued advanced urological training at the New York Presbyterian Hospital and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in 1982.[3]

As a urologist, Eid medically and surgically treats erectile dysfunction (ED), offers surgical correction of incontinence with the artificial urinary sphincter, correction of abnormal penile curvature, treatment of Peyronie's Disease, and cosmetic penile surgery. In 2001, he founded Advanced Urological Care, PC, which specializes in penile-prosthetic surgery and erectile dysfunction treatment.[2]

The “No Touch” Technique[edit]

Eid performs penile prosthesis implantation surgeries with a technique, developed by him, known as the “No Touch” Surgical Technique for Penile Prosthesis Implantation to minimize the risk of infection associated with this procedure. The “No Touch” Technique uses precautions throughout the procedure to avoid direct and indirect contact between the prosthesis and skin, the source of infection-causing bacteria. Eid has conducted extensive research on his theory that bacteria on the skin causes the infection. His procedure has an infection rate of 0.46%, opposed to 5% among tradition implant procedure.[1]
