Usernames that are real people's names[edit]

Hi EugeneVolokh! From your contribution history I'm assuming you're actually this Eugene Volokh. I'm a great admirer of your work.

I wanted to point out that, while Wikipedia contributors are not ordinarily expected to prove (or even state) who they are, there's a possible exception in the case of usernames that are the names of real persons. See WP:REALNAME. It might be useful for you to create a user page (you can just follow the link to User:EugeneVolokh, type something, and hit the "publish" button) at least stating whether or not you're the "real" Eugene Volokh, possibly with a few details. It's pretty unlikely that anyone will actually ask you to prove it, but it could happen. (Just for completeness, if your name is really Eugene Volokh but you're not the famous one, you should say that. If your name is not really Eugene Volokh you'll probably be asked to change your username.) --Trovatore (talk) 19:45, 20 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

[EugeneVolokh responds: I am he, and he is I! Thanks for the kind words, and for the advice; I've just created the user page, as you suggest.]
