Feedback on initial ideas[edit]

I like how you've chosen something from your internship and interests. One important thing to remember is that Wikipedia articles must not make an "argument." Instead, you have to summarize the known academic scholarship on the topic. The sample articles are interesting but perhaps too broad. I also worry that you will not be able to draw at all from course readings in creating your entry on "youth refugees in the United States."

What if you worked on improving this article on Mental health of refugee children? YOu could particularly plug in your topic at Section four of the article. What do you think?Prof.Vandegrift (talk) 20:44, 6 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Megan, I am really intrigued by your topic and will look forward to watching it develop, especially because you will be able to found it in your experiences at your internship. --KLi 32 (talk) 23:08, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A pie for you![edit]

Nice work on your user page! Prof.Vandegrift (talk) 23:06, 20 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Feedback[edit]

Not to push you in one direction or the other, but my plan is to edit the Street Child article and it needs a LOT of work done on it. If you do decide to work on Street Children in the Philippines, maybe we could do some collaboration to figure out how to fix the rest of the article, too. Most of the information is outdated and insufficient. Best of luck in whatever you decide to research. I think they all sound like there is a definite need for the information.

Feedback[edit]

For my topic I am looking at child trafficking in Georgia and children as sex slaves. I found this page that needs a lot of work Commercial sexual exploitation of children. There is little to no work done internationally, and it could use research on Tier 1 countries as far as human trafficking. If you were to take this angle I would be more than willing to collaborate on an international angle for this page! Your topics all look very relevant and interesting! Welcome[edit]

Hi MKassmeier. Welcome to Wikipedia! I'm an online ambassador for your Global Youth Studies course at Drake. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, chat with us on IRC, or ask your question on this page and then place {{helpme}} before the question.

You should know that the mental health of refugee children article was previously the subject of an educational assignment at a Canadian university. Gobōnobō + c 21:07, 22 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Be bold - claim your article[edit]

Hi MKassmeir! I like your proposed ideas. It looks as though you have some sources to begin working with. I suggest that you be bold and put a banner on the Mental health of refugee children talk page claiming you will work on it. The previous students received quite a bit of critique for their work on the article - hopefully, there is stuff for you to learn from there. P.S. I like your social exclusion sentence, too. Keep up the work! Prof.Vandegrift (talk) 04:43, 13 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Feedback on 3.27 sources[edit]

Hi, MKassmeier. You have identified several sources that appear of high quality. I believe they will fit nicely into your plans for revising the [mental health of refugee children] article. Now it is time to begin outlining the revisions you plan to do. What statistics do you hope to include? What kind of general background might you find in reports from the UNHCR and other sources?

As you create your outline, work to imagine which facts you might incorporate from each article you have selected. Cheers, Prof.Vandegrift (talk) 04:39, 2 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
