Help me![edit]

Please help me with... Patrimoine fr (talk) 09:36, 11 May 2024 (UTC) Dear DanCherek, I am new to Wikipedia editing. I have found it difficult to access your talk page. It appears that the article I wrote regarding the village of Galie in France was removed due to copyright infringements. Please confirm if this is correct. I referred to the parts I copied from other sites, with an acknowledgement of their source. Was this inadequate? Should I have rewritten these copied parts in my own words. Please help me if you can. Warm regards, Patrimoine fr https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Patrimoine_fr#c-DanCherek-20240511031700-Welcome! Patrimoine fr (talk) 09:36, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you 331dot. Much appreciated. Patrimoine fr (talk) 09:54, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello. Anything you add to Wikipedia needs to be summarized in your own words. In other words, citing the source means that's where the facts are coming from, but it's still not okay to copy from it because their text is protected by copyright. Optional tip: I sometimes find it helpful to read the source material, then try to summarize it what you read without directly referring to it (of course you can look at it afterwards, but this might help avoid the temptation of using the same or substantially similar phrasing). Hope that helps. DanCherek (talk) 14:11, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
