Happy editing! NASCARfan0548 (alt)  16:19, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm Qwerfjkl (bot). I have automatically detected that this edit performed by you, on the page 2024 NASCAR Cup Series, may have introduced referencing errors. They are as follows:

  • A "bare URL and missing title" error. References show this error when they do not have a title. Please edit the article to add the appropriate title parameter to the reference. (Fix | Ask for help)

Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, Qwerfjkl (bot) (talk) 20:26, 30 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

References Tab[edit]

Hey Stanky251! It is entirely allowed to use a "references" tab for citations. It's no different that listing sources in a "notes" tab. It's alluded to in MOS:TABLE and no policy prohibits it. In my opinion, it makes tables much more useful. If you disagree (and it seems you do) I may open a tab on the WikiProject page or the Cup Series page to seek consensus. glman (talk) 14:45, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello glman! You do raise a great point, as it is not explicitly stated that it is not allowed. It might be a way to go in the future. The way that references are treated has changed in the past. However, as we get into the bulk of the season, there are often cases where the only real source is an entry list (as much as we could cite entry lists, it would be redundant), and avoidable blank spaces in a table are generally frowned upon.
But my point is that this is a standard set for years within season articles (not just NASCAR). I appreciate the respect that you show for other opinions within the project, but this is more of a standard across the world of motorsport. I would think that it would be wise to just leave it be for now. Also, I wouldn't want to start a ruckus.
That being said, I really appreciate your consideration and wish you happy editing!
(I have linked many articles for examples in here, but if you didn't want to read all of them, I would recommend MOS:VAR. Just that one section is enough.)
