A tag has been placed on User:WriteSantaLetter requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://writesantaletter.com/about.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Wikipedia and copyright[edit]

Control copyright icon Hello WriteSantaLetter! Your additions to User:WriteSantaLetter have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. CAPTAIN RAJU(T) 20:48, 15 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion[edit]

This page should not be speedy deleted as an unambiguous copyright infringement, because... it is MY WEBSITE AND WORDS! There is NO copy right error. As to what ever was written I think you are being a little harsh in your assumtion on what I wrote and attacking me as if I commeted a crime which I didn't and not reasoning the facts or knowing the true facts of the situation. As for me I think you are being hurtful and unkind in your judgement without knowing or getting the true facts of the situation. Not only that getting me fired up in being defensive and isn't right. Now if you would get down of the high horse and be a human being and not being quick to judge we might beable to get somewhere. I am willing to talk by phone to get this matter resolved. You have my number and we can talk like adults and I am gain if you are. Sonja --WriteSantaLetter (talk) 23:12, 15 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, if you are going to do that than I request that you do the same to emailSanta.com website. They are doing the same thing that you are telling me and YOU are denime with the same type of website. Plus my website writeSantaletter.com is for charity to raise money for the elderly, disabled and handicap and those in need. I consider that discrimination against me and my website. emailsanta.com has the same simular type website. I also have been written up in newspaperts that have honored me for what I do and what I displayed clearly gives connection to the Winston Salem Jouneral and Magizine in Winston Salem, NC and you cvan check me out regarding this, plus written in the Watauga Democrat in Boone, NC pretaining to my sites regarding letters to Santa Claus that I have built my self ever since the BBS's before the turn of the century. I built my website way back since before the internet. What you have read is my accomplishments. I find you response to my write up discriminateing. I am well known in these towns and on the web for my accomplishments. I would rethink your position in this matter. My friends in high places taken a dim view of matters of this nature in your responce as well as me. Families that frawn on this matter. emailsanta.com is simular to my site and you allow him to do the same and is discrimination. Heaven help you! WriteSantaLetter (talk) 03:00, 16 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see your reason for this and prejudice against my website. WriteSantaLetter (talk) 03:02, 16 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

October 2022[edit]

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of username and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page.

change of my username no unless YOU REQUEST EMAILSANTA.COM TO DO THE SAME. YOU ALLOW HIM AND YOU ARE DISCRIMINATE AGAINST ME. This place you have I can close YOU DOWN IF YOU DISCRIMINATE AGainst me. WriteSantaLetter (talk) 03:08, 16 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
what ever your problem is you hide behind this texting and your website. you allow emailsanta.com and his site is copyright. My site is no different than mine. Besides that YOU tell me that I have got to change my username that I shouldn't have to. Second you have emailsanta.com website listed and his site is COPYRIGHT. LASTLY YOU HIDE BEHIND YOUR texting dosen't jive with me. to me itif you are going to talk business or not this is for the birds. As telling me to change my username I conceider it discriminating. You allow emailsanta.com to use is copyright website name but you tell me I got to change it. That I consider disciminating, and why because emailsanta.com is copyright. As for you , you seem to like hiding behind you website. My people don't agree with you and you are being discriminating. So far as I am concern you are being discriminating. You have other that have copyright site and thAT SHOULD MAKE A DAM DIFFRENCE about my copyright. I am not and will not be discriminated against. WriteSantaLetter (talk) 03:56, 16 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
i JUST SENT YOU AN EMAIL. You said that I can't have my username and it must be change at emailsanta.com well he has to do the same and if you don't I can take action. You can not do me unfairly by telling me to change my username without having emailsanta.com doing the same. I will not and am not changing my username when you are allowing emailsanta.com to use a copyright website. withdraw your convictions from me. WriteSantaLetter (talk) 04:33, 16 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • A few indisputable facts:
  • The person who started writing emailSanta.com properly declared their conflict of interest. They followed policy. That person is not using a username that is the name of their website. They followed policy. That person did not add any promotional copyrighted language from their own website. They followed policy. That person added references to reliable sources, and there are currently 29 references in the article. They followed policy. That person wrote a draft and submitted it to the Articles for Creation process, for review by an experienced, uninvolved editor who accepted it as an encyclopedia article. They followed policy.
  • You, on the other hand, have not complied with any of our policies for editors with a conflict of interest. You are complaining about our policies and refusing to comply with them. Your current approach will not be successful so I suggest that you either change your tune, or abandon this effort. Cullen328 (talk) 16:11, 16 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    • To be perfectly clear, there is no Wikipedia editor called User:emailSanta.com. Instead, there is an encyclopedia article called emailSanta.com, because the policies were followed correctly in that case. Cullen328 (talk) 16:23, 16 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I differ with you on emailsanta.com. I have been on the website and I have seen it on you regard his wikipedia. I did the search and know it was on here and copied the page. To show you my sincereity I have rewrote my information and I wrote my own words. Now I am trying to be nice and over look the mishap and I will go as far to apologize. As being penalized against my site I don't feel it is right to do so especially when emailsanta.com has the same info on copyright and I have sene it and know it is on here. The point here is my informaation so I have written my words so we can come to some kind of medium. My information as follows:

      • You must do several things. You must agree to follow Wikipedia's Policies and guidelines 100% of the time and defer to more experienced editors when they tell you that you are on the wrong track. In particular, you must comply with Verifiability and the Neutral point of view. You must change your username. You must use the Articles for Creation process. You must stop complaining that one of your competitors has an article and you don't. That website owner did things right and you haven't yet. You must submit a properly formatted unblock request, following the instructions in the formal block message precisely. Do not be argumentative in your unblock request. Follow the directions. Another adminstrator will review your appeal, and may ask me for my input. Cullen328 (talk) 17:00, 16 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I have not and I quote have not written anything that is copyright in the last 30 minutes. Get real man. As for what is on my site give it a rest. What I wrote was what I compiled from writing something that ids not from my website. I own the webiste and design it myself. I pay for every bit of my website and no one but one owens my website or anything about it. As for my webpages I built the site and control everything about it. It is my copyright and I do everything. what gives. nothing in your regulations has not a thing to do with what I display. As yto your copyrights I worked in my father law offices and know about your copyrights. what I have is my personal stuff. my copyright on the site is my stuff and I can use it where ever. I have not infringe anything that I use. you are intrupeting coyright. If it is my it is not infringeing on any copyright. WriteSantaLetter (talk) 17:25, 16 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

emailSanta.com is a Christmas-themed entertainment website that claims to allow children to send emails to the legendary character Santa Claus and receive a computer-generated response from the website. It also provides various other Christmas-themed simulations.
Contents
History[edit source]
emailSanta.com was started in 1997 by Alan Kerr. Kerr started the website after a strike by Canada Post workers prevented his niece and nephews from sending letters to Santa Claus, which are replied to by volunteers at Canada Post. During the first two weeks of the site's existence, emailSanta received over 1,000 emails.
In 2000, a "Santa Tracker" feature was added to the site, allowing users to simulate the tracking of Santa year-round, similar to NORAD Tracks Santa provided by North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and the Google Santa Tracker by Google. The site also features a blog and various other Christmas-themed games and apps.
The website is available in several languages.
The website was incorporated in Alberta, Canada as emailSanta.com Inc. in 2011. Individuals and entities in 26 different countries have been involved in creating emailSanta.com.
Website[edit source]
Users compose their letter by filling in blank fields. Personal information, such as full name or e-mail address, is not required.
The website then simulates the process of the process of the email being sent and then compiles an immediate and personalized reply to the sender based on the user's input. The reply is automatically generated server-side using an ASP script written by Kerr, but the letter is claimed to have been written by Santa Claus himself. Optionally, the user can request to "see Santa live," in which case a video recording of an actor's portrayal of Santa would be shown to the user before the reply letter is shown, simulating a video call with Santa.
From the website's inception, children whose letters contained pleas for help were directed to a special web page on the site listing online resources for assistance and counselling helplines. In dire circumstances, police have been contacted.
Impact on popular culture[edit source]
Prior to the Internet, letters to Santa were traditionally delivered by post. Tanya Gulevich, in her Encyclopedia of Christmas and New Years Celebrations wrote:

In 1997 postal workers all over the [U.S.] reported the first decline ever in the numbers of letters sent to Santa Claus at Christmas time... No one knows why so many kids all at once lost interest in writing letters to Santa. Perhaps they suddenly discovered e-mail.

Some overworked U.S. Postmasters requested children use emailSanta.com instead of sending letters via regular mail. One particular instance was due to the anthrax scare in the early 2000s.
Beginning in 1998, users could sign up for emailSanta's "Daily Top 10" list. Similar in spirit to Art Linkletter's work, the emailSanta list was a curated list of emails sent by visitors to the site. Some of these lists were reprinted in newspapers   and magazines, and read on TV networks and radio stations.
Elementary school teachers have also used emailSanta.com in their classrooms to teach computer literacy and reading skills.

Yes, a big joke. Wikipedia is a top ten website worldwide. It was the most visited website in the United States in 2021. 1.5 billion unique devices visit Wikipedia each month. If you think that is a joke, then go ahead and laugh. Cullen328 (talk) 20:11, 16 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
