Nominator's rationale: Consistency with other German film categories. With the many political changes over the last one hundred years in Germany, the films are sorted by their political circumstances. Furthermore, "early" is a very unclear term and one could argue for Weimar Republic films to be included there, as they're part of the early cinema as well.
