Propose renaming Category:Colonial Australia in film to Category:Films set in colonial Australia
Nominator's rationale: These were just recently split in a nomination of mine, and I created the television one in the process. But in retrospect these just seem like they're set in the period and location. Actually, the "___ in film" format is pretty suspect, in my opinion. Maybe a broader nomination will follow this if it gains traction-- Mike Selinker (talk) 16:10, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Propose renaming Category:International Accounting Standards to Category:International Financial Reporting Standards
Nominator's rationale: In summary, the current name of the category is misleading and not reflective of the purpose of the category since the International Accounting Standards (IASs) has been defined as a subset of the International Reporting Standards (IFRSs) by the IFRS Foundation, and not the other way round. To go into further detail, here is a breakdown of the nomenclature:
  • "IFRS Foundation": organisation with various goals, including the development of standards through the IASB. (ref)
  • "International Accounting Standards Board (IASB)": the standard-setting body of the IFRS Foundation. (ref)
  • "International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs)": refers to standards developed by the IFRS Foundation through the IASB. (ref)
  • "International Accounting Standards (IASs)": refers to previously-developed standards adopted by the IASB that now form part of the "IFRS requirements" (ref) along with the IFRSs (ref).
The key takeaway here is that the IFRS Foundation has stated that both the IFRSs and the IASs now form part of the IFRS requirements, and the combination of all these factors I think presents a pretty convincing argument for the renaming! Propose renaming Category:People educated at the De La Salle College (Jersey) to Category:People educated at De La Salle College (Jersey)
Nominator's rationale: I nominated this on Speedy, but there was an objection to my use of C2D to get rid of the "the" in the category name. So I'll try it here. The school's website is clear on this: The headmaster's welcome begins "De La Salle College is well known throughout Jersey..." and ends with a signature of "Head of De La Salle College." Again, I think that's a speedy rename, but there's been disagreement about that.--Mike Selinker (talk) 00:31, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
