Nominator's rationale: This is kind of a weird one, in that these series were acquired by this abbreviation-rich company. But I'm not keen on having a different format for one category.-- Mike Selinker (talk) 16:07, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: While I'm all for regional variations, this is the only subcategory of Category:Television series by studio that uses "programmes" in its title.--Mike Selinker (talk) 16:04, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Unneeded category duplication; standard for sports categories is "United Kingdom". The Bushranger One ping only 08:42, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Merge per nominator....William 20:55, 22 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Reverse merge according to Category:Horse racing in the United Kingdom, racing in Northern Ireland is organised on al all-Ireland basis. Accordingly it is the UK category that is the redundant one. Peterkingiron (talk) 16:13, 23 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • Except the parent is Category:Sport in the United Kingdom by sport - and the only other sport category in that tree that uses the "Great Britain" construction is greyhound racing...now, that said, we do have Category:Horse racing in Scotland and Category:Horse racing in Wales as subcats of the existing Category:Horse racing in the United Kingdom. Perhaps we should rename to Category:Horse racing in England? - The Bushranger One ping only 18:45, 23 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
      • Category:Horse racing in England is a legitimate category, which we probably need. I agree that what I am suggesting is an exception. However unfortunately some things are not organised on convenient national basis and WP should reflect the actual world, not try to impose its own category system on the the world. Despite the break-up if the pre-1922 United Kingdom with independence for the Republic of Ireland, some things continue to operate on an all-Ireland basis (and conversely GB basis), rather than on a UK and RoI basis. This applies in diverse fields, such as Trades Unionism (where the British Trades Union Congress does not cover Northern Ireland. Work has been done in recent times on removing "Ireland" categories, where they are inappropriate, but in such cases, the way things are actually organised measn that Ireland categories are appropriate and conversely GB categories. In most cases a GB catregory is an unnecessary level of categorisation between UK and the 4 home nations, but this is an exception. Another will be Gaelic sports, which are played in the whole of Ireland on an all-Irealnd basis, largely be the Catholic/Nationalist population. • Comment I could add the article for failure to the category if that helps...? Lugnuts And the horse 06:56, 21 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete -- Too small to be needed. There may be room for expansion, but not much. Peterkingiron (talk) 16:17, 23 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
