The result of the discussion was: rename. Good Ol’factory (talk) 03:27, 16 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: I'd aim to have Category:Punk rock genres as a subcategory of Category:Punk rock rather than of Category:Punk. 068129201223129O9598127 (talk) 00:03, 9 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Clarifies that these are genres of music, not genres of other Punk media. SFB 15:20, 14 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Litigators[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: no consensus to delete; Category:Trial lawyers should perhaps be considered for merging into this category, or at least it should become a subcategory of it. Good Ol’factory (talk) 05:13, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Delete. Litigator is just a different word for lawyer. This category is superfluous to the category Category:Lawyers and the subcats within. Tassedethe (talk) 23:43, 8 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep (changed below, 11 June): Many lawyers (myself included) are not litigators. Transactional lawyers, patent lawyers, commercial lawyers, corporate/M&A lawyers, etc., do not identify themselves as litigators (even if some minority percentage of their practice involves litigation or litigation support). British solicitors are lawyers who do not necessarily litigate, and who aren't permitted to argue before a court. All U.S. lawyers are licensed to litigate before a court, but that doesn't make us practicing litigators. 108.52.24.93 (talk) 12:52, 10 June 2014 (UTC) (IP editor/lawyer)[reply]
To clarify: among U.S. lawyers, the term "litigator" is synonymous with "trial lawyer," not with "lawyer." Litigation is one of many areas of practice that a lawyer might choose to concentrate in. 108.52.24.93 (talk) 13:14, 10 June 2014 (UTC) (same IP editor/lawyer above)[reply]
  • delete If the term is synonymous with "trial lawyer", then merger would be in order. It has only a single member, however, and from what I gather he would be notable principally as an educator. Mangoe (talk) 19:18, 10 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Of the hundreds of lawyers I've worked with over many years, maybe 25% would call themselves litigators (or trial lawyers). It is a specialized practice. It is very distinct from the parent category of "lawyer." (Analogy: all surgeons are physicians, but most physicians are not surgeons, even though they learned something about surgery in med school.) Most lawyers are not litigators/trial lawyers. They practice other kinds of law. Please see Attorneys in the United States#Specialization. 2600:1002:B02A:47F0:F552:A2F:3C35:70D3 (talk) 20:40, 10 June 2014 (UTC) (same IP editor/lawyer above)[reply]
  • comment we have Category:Lawyers by type. So, why eliminate litigators, but keep the others? we also have Category:Trial lawyers, so if kept we should merge.--Obi-Wan Kenobi (talk) 04:09, 11 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • keep as subcategory of Category:Lawyers by type, probably should be merged into Category:Trial lawyers. Beagel (talk) 04:27, 11 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge per Beagel and Obi-Wan Kenobi. 108.52.24.93 (talk) 12:41, 11 June 2014 (UTC) (same IP editor/lawyer above)[reply]
  • Keep - Litigators are a particular specialty within law. NB, not all litigators are trial lawyers; some litigators specialize in trial, others in appellate practice, others both. I wouldn't say we should distinguish at this point, given the overlap, but "litigators" would be the preferred term to "trial lawyers". So if anything "trial lawyers" should be merged into "litigators". --Lquilter (talk) 12:42, 12 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • comment on the discussion Commenters here really need to look at the contents of the category, because it can already be deleted for being too small, especially since the only member doesn't appear to be notable for his action in the courtroom (he's an educator). If you want to propose a reverse merge, then do so, but at the moment "keep" per se isn't a viable outcome. Mangoe (talk) 11:05, 16 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
That's certainly because nobody has gone through and edited the category contents, not because there are no pages on litigators in Wikipedia. If it gets deleted, it should only be deleted pending someone willing to go through and diffuse lawyer articles into the litigator specialty. --Lquilter (talk) 21:53, 24 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The rule is that you cannot delete a category by emptying it during the discussion, not that you cannot add legitimate members to it. But nobody is doing that, I'm guessing because they prefer the "trial lawyers" category. Mangoe (talk) 14:56, 25 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete I see no evidence that this is a widely used or understood term. "Trial lawyer", "appellate lawyer" and such are more widely understood and used.John Pack Lambert (talk) 16:16, 2 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: There is Category:FC Bayern Munich basketball players for basketball players from the same club. For the same reason like Category:FC Barcelona footballers this category should be renamed. Yoda1893 (talk) 10:33, 8 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Slavic calendar[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: delete. Good Ol’factory (talk) 05:15, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Now that all the individual articles (e.g. Polish months) have been converted to redirects to Slavic calendar per Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Serbian months, there is no longer a need to have this category which has only one element. King of ♠ 05:07, 8 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Agreed Raoul NK (talk) 15:58, 9 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • In the other hand. Slavic calendar should be seriously reworked. Now it's focused on Serbian calendar, but similar month names are used in many other Slavic languages. Moreover, seems that this calendar partially originates of Balto-Slavic era, due to the fact that Lithuanian calendar is close to Slavic. Good article on Slavic calendar should disclose the origin and historical perspective on the issue. Raoul NK (talk) 16:08, 9 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
