Nominator's rationale: I'm not quite sure what the intent of this category is, but it only contains one (semi-eponymous) article and no parent categories (so performs no navigational purpose). If kept (apart from needing parents) it should be renamed to something like "Modern Vidya Niketan". DexDor (talk) 22:00, 31 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Creators's rationale:hi @DexDor:,i will provide one moe page , & a parent categoy. -- Aryan hindustan (talk) ,Aryan from Hindustan 09:29, 1 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I added Modern Vidya Niketan School, Aravali Hills, and moved it from a badly-punctuated version of that name. The main article M.v.n educationl institutes (schools, universities, collages) (sic) was deleted as spam and copyright violation, being copied from http://mvneducation.com/cbse-schools-haryana/cbse-toppers-school . – Fayenatic London 09:53, 1 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: delete/merge. Good Ol’factory (talk) 03:28, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Per previous discussions (e.g. this) it's best not to have "Uncategorized <topic>" categories. This category is currently empty (so delete and merge are equivalent), but is not being CSDed because it has a "may be empty" notice. There are no inlinks so it appears unlikely that this is used as part of any wikiproject activity. DexDor (talk) 21:44, 31 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I was under the impression that there was a template somewhere that fed articles into this category, hence the need to retain it even if empty. If that's not (or no longer) the case, then I see no reason not to merge the two. Kirill [talk] 23:14, 31 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. There are no other sub-cats by topic within Category:Uncategorized pages. I can't figure out now why Kirill might have created it; see 24 March 2011 here, there are no obvious associated edits that would have populated it. – Fayenatic London 22:09, 1 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete I'm conceptually opposed to "Uncategorized" categories unless they are administrative. RevelationDirect (talk) 12:13, 2 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Category: Croatian Nazis[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: delete. Good Ol’factory (talk) 03:27, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Utterly unnecessary and likely technically inaccurate category.

Anyone who knows me (and my editing history), including Croatian Wikipedians, like Joy, Gregor, etc., knows I have no sympathy for the kind of person to which this category creator wishes to further draw attention, where I stand, but Category:Croatian collaborators with Nazi Germany‎ - already existing -- is fine. New category created in haste by newbie editor to make a point. Quis separabit? 19:22, 31 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • It's always out of line to empty a category while the discussion hasn't been closed yet. It's up to the closer to empty a category if applicable. Marcocapelle (talk) 06:43, 3 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
    • I disagree. The category is ridiculous, so far as I am concerned, this is a perfect example of where it is appropriate to IAR. Peacemaker67 (crack... thump) 06:50, 3 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Procedural Oppose I'm not able to assess whether WP:OVERLAPCAT applies because all the articles have been removed. I'm OK with doing that in rare cases where this is a libel/BLP issue, but not generally. RevelationDirect (talk) 12:55, 4 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • In this part (Yugoslav and former Yugoslav) of en WP, we deal with this sort of nonsense multiple times each day, whether incorrect cat, POV insertions or deletions etc. This case is so obviously egregious, it should just have been speedy'd. This is unnecessarily bureaucratic, which is why I applied IAR. You'll just have to do whatever you need to do, I'm not re-adding the articles. Peacemaker67 (crack... thump) 20:43, 4 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete category that overlaps too heavily with others to be needed, probably 100% with some others, but overlap does not have to be that high for a category to not be helpful.John Pack Lambert (talk) 05:50, 7 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: delete per WP:SMALLCAT, only one article in this category and no other Nigerian state categories exist for record producers. No need to upmerge because the one article is already in other branches of its parents Category:People from Enugu State or Category:Nigerian record producers. Marcocapelle (talk) 19:17, 31 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete without prejudice against recreation if needed. Currently we have 26 articles categorized as being on Nigerian record producers, and there are 36 states in Nigeria.John Pack Lambert (talk) 05:54, 7 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Delete. Per the discussion about Rangers FC captains, I believe this is a non-defining characteristic and trivial. The defining characteristic of a football player is whether or not they play for a team, not whether they captained it. The team captain in football is largely a ceremonial / honorific role (unlike, say, cricket) and changes frequently between and even during games, due to injuries, suspensions, loss of form, etc.. For most club sides, such as Motherwell FC, there are insufficient resources to accurately record who has captained the team; most statistical sites and books will record appearances and goals, but not necessarily the team captaincy. • Delete - per nom and prior consensus. GiantSnowman 18:07, 2 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - not a defining characteristic of a player. The importance of the captaincy in a football team can be illustrated by the fact that I have at least five books on the history of my club and not one feels the need to detail who the captains down the year have been -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 18:58, 2 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Delete. Apparently this refers to people from the Horn of Africa region. Horner is an ambiguous term. All of the categories are already within the parent Category:African people. If kept, should perhaps be renamed to Category:People from the Horn of Africa, though I personally don't think the category is necessary at all.Good Ol’factory (talk) 03:54, 31 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom. Entire contents is in the tree of Category:Horn of Africa already so no need to upmerge. Marcocapelle (talk) 20:48, 31 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete I have yet to see any evidence that other than the person who created this category anyone uses this term. The Wikipedia article Horner is about people and places with that as a name. It makes no mention to the Horn of Africa.John Pack Lambert (talk) 05:56, 7 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
    • I have heard it used outside of Wikipedia, but always in the context of it being very much a slang-like term. I think it's the sort of usage that might someday show up in an urban or slang dictionary, but it's not accepted usage at this stage. Good Ol’factory (talk) 23:58, 7 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete -- I think that a horner is a person who makes artefacts out of horn, for example lamps in a period when glass was less readily available. If kept rename, as suggested by nom. Peterkingiron (talk) 14:18, 12 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: This is really an unneeded category as it causes more confusion than clears. Most of the articles included don't even mention it, and the worst is that the category gets added to other trees. —SpacemanSpiff 02:26, 31 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete This category has the odd result of meixing 100% historic people with people whose exitence is highly disputed with people whose existence as humans on earth is not even claimed by anyone. There are much better categorization schemes for the Jain figures here, and the others do not seem to belong at all.John Pack Lambert (talk) 06:02, 7 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
