Category:Christian politics[edit]

The result of the discussion was: rename. Good Ol’factory (talk) 02:20, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Main article is Christianity and politics and parents are Category:Religion and politics and Category:Christianity and society (naturally suggesting the new title). There is no reason to limit this category in scope to kinds of Christian political ideologies. The presence of things like Category:Church of England disestablishment show there is already a need to include topics which cover political interaction/interference with Christian matters (not just Christian-led politics as the current name implies). SFB 23:06, 12 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment. I'm not keen on "Foo and bar" categories as they may cover several separate topics (e.g. Category:Children and death combines articles about detahs of children and murders comitted by children). DexDor (talk) 08:11, 13 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
    • @DexDor: Religion and politics is a well known duality and field of study as they represent two major (often conflicting) power structures in society. This fact is as true at this moment as it ever was. This is in direct contrast to the above example, which is a category simply combining two themes and including the content that meets at that topical intersection. SFB 20:33, 13 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Rename per nom. "Foo and bar" is sometimes poor categorization, but in this case it makes sense. DexDor (talk) 21:33, 13 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. As the article says "There have been a wide variety of ways in which thinkers have conceived of the relationship between Christianity and politics, with many arguing that Christianity directly supports a particular political ideology or philosophy." - it seems like Christian politics (which is argued by "many") should be a subcategory of Christianity and politics (which is neutral about whether Christian politics exists or not). In fact much of the current content of the category is about Christian politics. Marcocapelle (talk) 22:14, 20 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Rename per nom. Current name is highly ambiguous and inconsistent with the rest of the cat tree. Neutralitytalk 02:05, 1 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Rename While many have argued there is a particularly Christian politics, they have argued for politics all across the board, so there is clearly not just one Christian politics.John Pack Lambert (talk) 06:49, 1 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • The fact that there's not just one Christian politics is exactly why this is a category with multiple entries. Christian anarchism, Christian democracy, Christian libertarianism and Christian socialism should all be parented to Christian politics - not to Christianity and politics. Marcocapelle (talk) 21:57, 3 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: upmerge to Category:Crime drama film stubs and Category:2010s drama film stubs. Good Ol’factory (talk) 02:17, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Stub category created unnecessarily. I tried to populate it, but there's just not enough articles to meet the threshold. Category should be deleted, and the contents upmerged into Category:Crime drama film stubs. Fortdj33 (talk) 13:27, 12 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Upmerge Too few articles to populate the category. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 19:07, 12 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep – I am not aware of there being a criteria for the minimum amount of articles to justify a category but distinguishing the categories into decades appears to make it easier to navigate rather than over populating the one category. Tanbircdq (talk) 16:00, 18 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Per WP:WSS/P, stub categories should not be created until there is a significant number of articles (60+) that warrants a separate category. Diffusing overpopulated categories is helpful, but the stub tags should transclude the parent category, until the threshold for a separate stub category is met. The result of the discussion was:  Relisted at 2015 FEB 4 CFD. Good Ol’factory (talk) 02:15, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: As far as I can see, there is no other stub category for US sportspeople by state I don't think this is a good idea to start stubbing people based on the state they are from (is that born in, reside in now, lived most of their lives?). Also upmerge into Category:American sportspeople stubs too. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 11:45, 12 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: merge. Good Ol’factory (talk) 23:50, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: As far as I understand, the two categories are identical in scope. Pichpich (talk) 02:57, 12 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support merge to usual method of companies place in which they are based (rather than the more diffuse "from" concept which isn't very helpful to company categorisation). SFB 22:50, 12 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge to keep the categories standardized. kennethaw88talk 04:39, 18 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Per WP:SMALLCAT. Small community with just 1 entry. ...William 01:41, 12 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Community of under 200 people. Unimaginable that this will fill out with many notable biographies. SFB 22:50, 12 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Due to very small size of town, <200 people.RevelationDirect (talk) 03:29, 15 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
