The result of the discussion was: merge. Marcocapelle (talk) 22:13, 14 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: There is only one Civil defence organisation in Singapore Rathfelder (talk) 22:43, 4 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge Single article categories don't aid navigation and I see no growth potential. We do keep small categories for small countries but I'd rather leave that at the generally organisation level. RevelationDirect (talk) 03:54, 9 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Category:People from Lexington, Illinois[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: merge. Good Ol’factory (talk) 03:55, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Per WP:SMALLCAT. Small one-county community with just three entries. ...William, is the complaint department really on the roof? 22:35, 4 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge for Now With no objection to recreating should the article count grow to 5, my arbitrary cutoff for WP:SMALLCAT. RevelationDirect (talk) 03:53, 9 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep not near empty and enough potential for growth. gidonb (talk) 02:55, 12 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge per RevelationDirect. I went through every biography which links to Lexington and found none not already in this category. It's not clear that this has any potential for growth. ~ Rob13Talk 19:04, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: merge. ~ Rob13Talk 19:23, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: If referring to Slovene culture beyond today's Slovenia borders (Trieste, Croatia, Austria), this has to be pointed out more clearly and convincingly. Until then, the best we can do is merge two almost eponymous WP:OVERLAPCATs. PanchoS (talk) 21:38, 4 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Mongolian Stock Exchange[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: merge to both parents, i.e. Category:Business organisations in Mongolia and Category:Stock exchanges in Mongolia.
The merger as proposed would have removed the content from one of the crucial parent category trees. Please try to avoid this with future CFD nominations. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs)

Nominator's rationale: Only one substantive article and no prospect of any more. Rathfelder (talk) 21:04, 4 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Merge per nominator....William, is the complaint department really on the roof? 22:36, 4 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: keep as part of a series, per WP:SMALLCAT. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 11:34, 26 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: There is only one. Rathfelder (talk) 21:03, 4 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • I know there's only one, but the majority of the category is in sub-categories. Is it really better to have the "onesies" just in the parent category? Funandtrvl (talk) 22:36, 5 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • keep This is part of the container category Category:Stock exchanges by country. When part of a series, WP retains categories no matter how few articles they contain. There is no minimum number. Hmains (talk) 03:05, 8 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment -- The question is what we do with the list article, which seems entirely to consist of redlinks or links to articles where the company name is used for something else. The one exception I found was Zoos Bank, which has apparently now merged with a savings bank. A few linked to a community in Mongolia; have privatised communes issued shares that are traded on the exchange? The article on the exchange might become a main article for Category:Companies quoted on the Mongolian Stock Exchange, but I do not think we have that one (yet). Certainly we only need one category, which should be directly a child of an Asian Stock Exchanges category. Peterkingiron (talk) 18:21, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Rivers of Southwestern Indiana[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: upmerge to Category:Rivers and streams of Indiana. While people voted delete/keep, it's clear that no-one intended this to be removed from the rivers and streams category tree. ~ Rob13Talk 19:33, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Parent category, Category:Rivers and streams of Indiana, isn't big enough to need any splitting. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 08:30, 4 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Do not delete Nominator does not mention the other parent category involved here Category:Southwestern Indiana. Category:Rivers of Southwestern Indiana is an obvious part of this parent. Hmains (talk) 02:56, 8 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep This seems to be a reasonable part of a category tree on locations in Category:Southwestern Indiana. Deletion would not help navigation. Dimadick (talk) 21:47, 8 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete Southwestern Indiana is not an official sub-division. I'm fine with some categories for the greater Evansville area especially if it's that's the media market or other metro topics. But we shouldn't sub-cat off every possible topic area from Indiana for an informal area. RevelationDirect (talk) 04:00, 9 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Due to its limited scale, we should consider only human geography categories for this region. gidonb (talk) 03:09, 12 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, there is no point in having an additional layer of categories between state and county level, while in reality the extra layer does not exist or is very informal. Please nominate all other Southwestern Indiana categories as well. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:05, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Category:People from North Shore, Auckland[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: relisted here. ~ Rob13Talk 19:36, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: A tricky one - the parent cat and key article are at Category:North Shore City, so the obvious rename would be to Category:People from North Shore City. On the other hand, North Shore City no longer exists - it is part of the Auckland "supercity". The better alternative would be to go with standard New Zealand naming conventions and move it to Category:People from North Shore, New Zealand, since there is no other North Shore in the country. Grutness...wha? 06:41, 4 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Actress[edit]

The result of the discussion was: merge/delete. Good Ol’factory (talk) 04:01, 12 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: The category is at Category:Actresses. This should be salted. Redirection is also an option. DexDor (talk) 06:05, 4 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete – there is 1 article, which I have added to 'Canadian actresses', so no merge is needed. Oculi (talk) 09:40, 4 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - good faith newbie creation. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 04:57, 8 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Hero Cities of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: delete. ~ Rob13Talk 19:36, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Per WP:OCAWARD (WP:NONDEFINING)
The main article for this category, Hero Cities of Yugoslavia, is just a section redirect that lists the contents of this category. I'm guessing this was given to cities involved in conflicts during WWII but that's not unusual in Europe and I can't find any source to back up my theory anyway (at least in English). Before we debate whether an award is defining in the category space, we really need a main article to ground that CfD discussion. (If anyone who can read Serbian wants to take that on, I'll put this nomination on hold for a month.) - RevelationDirect (talk) 01:56, 4 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Note: The creator of this category, User:WhiteWriter, was deleted but I added this discussion to WikiProject Yugoslavia. – RevelationDirect (talk) 01:56, 4 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Grand Masters of the Decoration for Services to the Republic of Austria[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: delete. ~ Rob13Talk 19:37, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Per WP:OVERLAPCAT and WP:OCAWARD (WP:NONDEFINING)
The "Grand Master" of the Decoration of Honour for Services to the Republic of Austria is automatically given to every person who is elected President of Austria and to nobody else. Being president of a country is obviously defining, which is why every single one of these people is already in Category:Presidents of Austria and listed here. So this category is non-defining and, if you did want to navigate between these articles, another category already provides that pathway. - RevelationDirect (talk) 01:55, 4 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Note: The notified Mimich as the category creator and I added this discussion to WikiProject Austria. – RevelationDirect (talk) 01:55, 4 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
