- Nominator's rationale: per WP:SMALLCAT. Not part of any series in the mostly well-organised Category:European Union people. Can only ever contain 2 subcats Category:Members of the European Parliament for Austria & Category:Austrian European Commissioners, because those are the only the only two types of political offices in the EU which are tied to member states.
- The only other possible categories of political Austrian in the EU would be Category:Permanent Representatives of Austria to the European Union (if it existed; see Category:Permanent Representatives to the European Union), but that is a diplomatic post and diplomats are not categorised as politicians or political office-holders.
