Category:Dunkirkers[edit]

The result of the discussion was: rename. -- Black Falcon (talk) 23:14, 18 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: to clarify that the scope is a set of privateers, rather than a demonym.
Yes, the head article is at Dunkirkers, but that is an ambiguous title, and "Dunkirk Privateers" is acknowledged in the lede as an alternative name. BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 23:29, 27 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom. Perhaps Dunkirk privateers with lowercase p, but that is not crucial. Marcocapelle (talk) 19:15, 29 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support categories need to be less ambiguous than article names.John Pack Lambert (talk) 18:56, 6 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: merge. -- Black Falcon (talk) 20:17, 18 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: merge/delete per WP:SMALLCAT, the Netherlands as a whole has less than a dozen articles about mosques, it is too soon to diffuse them by province and city. Marcocapelle (talk) 20:16, 27 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge All for Now All these articles so few articles makes it harder to find articles. No objection to recreating any if we can get up to 5 or so articles. RevelationDirect (talk) 04:38, 26 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge It seems we only have 7 articles on mosques in the Netherlands. There is no reason for such fine categorization with that many articles.John Pack Lambert (talk) 18:57, 6 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge all, with no prejudice against recreation if/when we have sufficiently many articles to justify it. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 13:52, 18 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: merge. -- Black Falcon (talk) 19:56, 18 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: merge per WP:SMALLCAT, currently one article, moreover there are only some 20 articles about mosques in the whole of Germany, it is too soon to diffuse them by federal state. Marcocapelle (talk) 20:06, 27 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge for Now With no objection to recreating if we ever get up to 5 or so articles. RevelationDirect (talk) 04:39, 26 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge since one article does not justify a seperate category.John Pack Lambert (talk) 18:57, 6 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Hollywood Park, Texas[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: delete (non-admin closure). Marcocapelle (talk) 14:53, 6 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Category with just one entry. ...William, is the complaint department really on the roof? 19:12, 27 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete The sole entry, Bala K. Srinivas, is currently at AfD. (Hollywood Park, Texas is not in the category.) The only other associated entry on Wikipedia, Chris Fails, is also at AfD. The town itself has a population of only around 3000, so there is no possibility of expansion. Therefore, this category fails WP:SMALLCAT. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 21:05, 28 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete no reason to have a category just to contain the article with the same name. Even if Fails's article somehow succeeds in being retained, a two article category for a city is not justified.John Pack Lambert (talk) 07:09, 5 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: delete (non-admin closure). Marcocapelle (talk) 14:55, 6 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Unpopulated, not a defining characteristic Aloneinthewild (talk) 16:20, 27 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per many precedents. Most higher education institutions are members of many such groupings, but they are rarely WP:DEFINING. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 01:04, 29 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete grouping membership comes and goes. It is better served by a list in the article or a free-standing list than a category.John Pack Lambert (talk) 07:10, 5 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: delete (non-admin closure). Marcocapelle (talk) 14:57, 6 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: WP:Smallcat, being a member of this association is not a defining characteristic Aloneinthewild (talk) 16:14, 27 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: delete (non-admin closure). Marcocapelle (talk) 14:59, 6 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Currently a redirect following a rename, but I can't see it ever being used - not least because we don't use "UK" in category names. Le Deluge (talk) 15:14, 27 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Shinto in Japan by city[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: merge. -- Black Falcon (talk) 19:52, 18 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: There are only two cities here, for navigation it is easier when the two cities immediately pop up under Category:Shinto in Japan. Marcocapelle (talk) 06:21, 27 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge The Shinto in Japan will only have 4 sub-cats after this, this sub-cat suc-cat is just not justified.John Pack Lambert (talk) 07:11, 5 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge This city tree seems forever destined to have underpopulated cats. RevelationDirect (talk) 04:40, 26 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: delete. For reference, the category contained Saturn's Children (novel) and The Unincorporated Man (non-admin closure). Marcocapelle (talk) 15:04, 6 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: I was able to add another page to this category, but I still strongly believe that this fails WP:SMALLCAT. Eris is simply not as well-known as Pluto. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 01:46, 27 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete neither article in this category even mentions this dwarf planet anywhere in the article. Clearly not a defining characteristic to categorize by.John Pack Lambert (talk) 07:16, 5 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
