The result of the discussion was: upmerge (non-admin closure). Marcocapelle (talk) 05:22, 4 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: It just adds an unnecessary extra category layer; Category:Fictional governesses covers the same ground. Clarityfiend (talk) 20:46, 27 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Statoil[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: Rename (WP:NAC). DexDor (talk) 20:19, 5 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Statoil oil and gas fields‎ to Category:Equinor oil and gas fields‎
Category:Statoil people to Category:Equinor people
Nominator's rationale: After the company changed its name, the main article in this category was renamed. The proposed renaming reflects the change of the name of the main article in this category. This category was nominated for speedy renaming per C2D, but this was opposed by an editor reasoning that there was no RM for renaming the main article. However, speedy renaming was supported by another editor. Beagel (talk) 17:55, 27 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support speedy - per the original, we've traditionally used common sense when faced with a corporate name change as here. Le Deluge (talk) 09:15, 28 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support speedy - should have gone by now... JarrahTree 12:01, 20 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Polychaetes of American Samoa[edit]

The result of the discussion was: merge/delete as nominated. (non-admin closure) Marcocapelle (talk) 05:24, 4 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Non-defining (e.g. the text of Palola viridis says "found in various tropical regions, including ...").  This by-country structure of 4 categories (currently) contains a total of 3 articles (i.e. most polychaetes have not been categorized by countries).  We've been moving away from categorizing species by countries to categorizing by larger regions - so it may be reasonable to create Category:Polychaetes of Oceania. Category:Carolingian architects[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: merge to Category:Medieval architects (or sub-cat, to Category:Medieval French architects) and to Category:People of the Carolingian Empire. I also started a list in Carolingian architecture. – Fayenatic London 21:50, 5 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: merge per WP:SMALLCAT, currently only one article in this category. The article is already in Category:8th-century Frankish people so there is probably no need for multiple merge targets. Marcocapelle (talk) 14:54, 27 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom, without prejudice to recreation if we do get a flood of Carolingian architects in future. Le Deluge (talk) 09:15, 28 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Recipients of the Order of the Rising Sun, 1st class[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: Merge. Timrollpickering 10:50, 8 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: The 1st-class degree of the Order of the Rising Sun is known as the Grand Cordon. Maintaining both a 1st-class and Grand Cordon category is redundant; a single category would be more complete. HowlingMadHess (talk) 07:40, 19 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.
