Category:Hindu movements and organisations[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: merge. Good Ol’factory (talk) 01:45, 5 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: upmerge, as far as I can see we do not have any other combined "movements and organisations" categories. Marcocapelle (talk) 05:44, 27 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • I support this. The whole notion of "movements" is problematic when it comes to categorisation.Rathfelder (talk) 09:23, 27 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support - completely redundant intermediate category with no top-level articles and just 3 subcats. Oculi (talk) 12:32, 27 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support -- The three subcats will fit nicely in the target (a container cat). Peterkingiron (talk) 14:29, 27 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strongly Oppose These are two distinctly different topics, and should not be merged, as it would harm the ability of users of Wikipedia to access this specific topic. SuperChris (talk) 18:12, 27 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • You have misunderstood this. There is no merging of topics. Oculi (talk) 21:59, 27 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose Two different things. Needs a separate category to categorise for topics falling withing the nominated category. Shyamsunder (talk) 22:42, 27 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@SuperChris and Shyamsunder: please reconsider, or explain further why you oppose this.
Fine, I withdraw my oppose vote.Shyamsunder (talk) 09:32, 3 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Comment on spelling, for the record: at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2015 November 18, the "s" spelling was chosen for the word "organisations" in this category, which dates from 2005. The "orgs" sub-cat was created in 2013 as Category:Hindu-affiliated organizations, and recently speedily renamed to Category:Hindu organizations. – Fayenatic London 13:47, 1 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
