Propose renaming under one of the following options:
Option B - "Organizations" to "Organisations"
  1. Rename Category:Organizations based in Laos to Category:Organisations based in Laos
  2. Rename Category:International organisations based in Laos to Category:International organizations based in Laos
  3. Rename Category:Defunct organizations based in Laos to Category:Defunct organisations based in Laos
  4. Rename Category:Paramilitary organizations based in Laos to Category:Paramilitary organisations based in Laos
  5. Rename Category:Religious organizations based in Laos to Category:Religious organisations based in Laos
  6. Rename Category:Wikipedia categories named after organizations based in Laos to Category:Wikipedia categories named after organisations based in Laos
  7. Rename Category:Youth organizations based in Laos to Category:Youth organisations based in Laos
User:Od Mishehu launched a series of cfds on this topic in 2017, the premise being that a given country should use either 'z' or 's' (but not a mixture thereof); eg France, Brazil, Bolivia, Iran, Angola, Greece, Poland, Israel, Puerto Rico, Turkey. Oculi (talk) 23:35, 2 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Option A (as nom). Follow the usage of Category:Organizations based in Laos, stable since 2008. Oculi (talk) 23:35, 2 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support One or the Other Support consistency, but no preference as to which in non-English speaking countries. RevelationDirect (talk) 00:33, 3 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Option A. Consistency is important, and the Z spelling should be used. Z is the std form in American English, and one of two acceptable form in British English. The case for using the "S"-spelling is very weak even in UK-related topics, and for a country such as Laos with minimal links to the UK it is non-existent. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 13:58, 3 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Option A per nom and per BrownHairedGirl. Marcocapelle (talk) 05:12, 4 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • RFC. I have opened an RFC about whether to standardise on the "Z" spelling in descriptive category names, i.e. to use "Organization" in all cases. I estimate that this affects the naming of about ten thousand categories.
See Wikipedia:Village pump (policy)#RFC:_spelling_of_"organisation"/"organization"_in_descriptive_category_names. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 20:26, 4 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Seems like an unnecessary category holding only Portal:Schools. A subcat holds subpages of Portal:Schools. Legacypac (talk) 23:17, 2 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Ok if that helps. I was only looking through Portals categories which is pretty enlightening. I can't follow the complexity of all these cats. Legacypac (talk) 02:33, 4 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: It seems this tracking category is not connected to any template. Couldn't find any links to it by searching, but since it has no documentation I can't be sure. Gonnym (talk) 15:39, 2 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: delete. I have created a list of the current contents at Wikipedia talk:Categories for discussion/Log/2019 April 2 in case anyone wants to make a list article. (non-admin closure) DannyS712 (talk) 00:07, 10 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: I know nothing about this but it looks like one of those WP:OCAWARD-y categories. The fellowship has no article nor any mention in the parent Aspen Institute article. Le Deluge (talk) 14:47, 2 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Background on the Aspen-Rodel Fellowship can be found here: About Aspen-Rodel Fellowship There are 24 fellows named per year and there have been 14 classes of fellows named so far (so 14x24 = 336). I created this category and did a search for which people pages already listed it and added the category to those pages to connect existing references. I have not gone back and seen which remaining fellows have pages about them and added this connection to their pages (but I intended to eventually do this). I think it is interesting from a category perspective because it shows how emerging political leaders in the U.S. are connected (for example, both Pete Buttigieg and Stacey Abrams who are in the news a lot right now are fellows). The Aspen Institute has approximately 20 fellowships and the page for the Institute is not nearly as built out as it could be (I am working on that though). If it makes more sense to create a page about the fellowship and list the fellows on that page, I'm happy to do that as well. --Mackmo (talk) 15:30, 2 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete Thanks for recognizing the issues with WP:OCAWARD and reveiwing your own work! In my "youth", I once created a category for the Delaware Sports Museum and Hall of Fame. This topic migh work as a list article or you could do a partial list of notable recipients, like in this article. I would suggest starting with the main article and focus on establishing WP:NOTABILITY and see what makes sense from there. Good luck! RevelationDirect (talk) 00:40, 3 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per WP:OCAWARD and as not WP:DEFINING. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 14:03, 3 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete This indicates the qualification: it seems to be a training program for younger politicians; presumably part-time, since they are presumably also working as politicians. This feels as if it would be appropriate for a list article, but comes too close to OCAWARD for my liking as a category. Peterkingiron (talk) 15:55, 6 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: I'm in two minds about this newly-created category, but thought it needed discussion. This is one of those categories where you can see it being legitimate in a very small number of cases where it is WP:DEFINING, but which ends up being a magnet for BLP violations (current members are Jane Fonda and Geri Halliwell). Reading Wikipedia:Categorization/Ethnicity,_gender,_religion_and_sexuality#Disability,_intersex,_medical,_or_psychological_conditions I'm weakly tending to delete, but am happy to go with consensus. Le Deluge (talk) 14:36, 2 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Err-I wasn't suggesting that they were good examples, I was saying that they were examples of the kind of marginal, crufty categorisation that these kinds of categories tend to attract.Le Deluge (talk) 22:39, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete I really don't see the need for this category, it's going to be very limited to numbers. It's very specific and at the same time I think it's a bit sick to have a category of this nature. Govvy (talk) 19:05, 8 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: WP:V and WP:OCAWARD
There are no main articles for either award and none of the articles I looked at mentioned either. When I searched for these terms online, I came across these Wikipedia articles. None of which is to say that these awards don't exist, just that I'm having trouble finding them online in English. If and when main articles are created on Crimean Tatar heroes and Tatar heroes, we can of always re-evaluate but they sure seem non-defining based on what we know now. - RevelationDirect (talk) 00:20, 2 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I would be open to changing my mind if there is evidence that these are actual awards and if there is evidence that the ward is WP:DEFINING for its recipients and if the categories could renamed to identify them as actual wards rather than simply as POV descriptions. But since none of these conditions is met for now, all we have is a pair of pure POV categories. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 14:06, 3 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Done: Good catch. I just went through all the articles and, if they weren't already somewhere else under the Crimean Tatar category tree, added them to either Category:Crimean Tatar officers or Category:Crimean Tatar people. RevelationDirect (talk) 20:32, 4 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! I've stricken the 'manual check' part in my previous comment because it has already been done by now. Marcocapelle (talk) 17:00, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete The whole concept seems subjective, but first distribute contents manually to other Crimean Tartar categories. Some seem to be WWII decorated soldiers; others politicians of a short-lived state. Peterkingiron (talk) 16:00, 6 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Per WP:OCAWARD (WP:NONDEFINING)
It's honestly hard to infer too much about the defining-ness of United States Show Jumping Hall of Fame since the vast majority of winning horses don't have an article. Of the 4 horses in the category, 3 mention the award in passing and 1 does mention it in the intro. The defining feature for 3 of the 4 horses was their participation in the Olympics which is why those three articles are already in Category:Horses in the Olympics. All 4 horses are also in the Category:Show jumping horses. This award just doesn't seem defining. The articles are already listified here in the main article.- RevelationDirect (talk) 00:18, 2 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
