The result of the discussion was: speedy rename. – Fayenatic London 16:48, 13 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Correction Shyamsunder (talk) 23:18, 7 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Speedy rename per WP:C2B. Marcocapelle (talk) 03:55, 8 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Speedy move all contents -- We have had a vandal at work (by appearances). The subject is set up as a cat-redirect, but someone has changed the capitalisation of the category in the articles so that the target is empty. Peterkingiron (talk) 15:20, 8 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
NB subject is not tagged. Peterkingiron (talk) 15:20, 8 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Now it is. Marcocapelle (talk) 20:01, 8 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Railway stations served by Virgin Trains[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: rename. MER-C 10:26, 15 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: The Virgin Trains franchise is being handed over to Avanti West Coast so the category will need to be renamed as the stations in this category will be served by Avanti West Coast from tomorrow and not Virgin Trains. Pkbwcgs (talk) 20:41, 7 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as a non-permanent characteristic and probably also non-defining (e.g. in an article such as Bangor railway station (Wales) one has to go some way into the article before either of these companies is mentioned). We don't categorize airports by which airlines currently use them. DexDor (talk) 21:06, 7 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Rename per nomination. These categories have existed peacefully for over a decade so I see no urgency in removing them now. RFBailey (talk) 22:40, 7 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Rename for now per nom, but I agree with DexDor regarding the whole tree. Marcocapelle (talk) 04:10, 8 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Rename - The change has now taken place. According to the BBC news, this is a one-for-one replacement, keeping even the senior management, so that it is little more than a change of name. In the long term, Category:Railway stations served by West Coast rail franchise might be better, but that would require us to change all the sibling categories. The scope of the various franchises has remained fairly stable for a long time, but the operators change from time to time. Peterkingiron (talk) 15:37, 8 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: delete. MER-C 10:28, 15 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: No other wikiproject has a category like this. There is Category:Category-Class Chicago articles. Note: A CFD in 2009 closed as no consensus. DexDor (talk) 12:01, 7 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: delete. The category is now empty because Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of starships in Babylon 5 resulted in deletion. MER-C 03:54, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Redirect-only category. TTN (talk) 14:04, 25 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge to Category:Babylon 5 spacecraft, as categorization based on an in-universe (i.e., non-defining) characteristic, and because the parent is not so populated to warrant sub-categorization. I see no reason, however, to delete the category and de-categorize these redirects altogether. -- Black Falcon (talk) 04:39, 26 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete without need for upmerging. Category consists of redirects only. JIP | Talk 10:50, 26 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, MER-C 09:23, 7 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, all four redirects link to the same list that is already in Category:Babylon 5 spacecraft, so merging is not useful in this case. Marcocapelle (talk) 09:38, 7 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep or Merge to Category:Babylon 5 spacecraft - exemplary case of nicely categorised redirects, each of which points to a relevant anchor in the main document (which is more than a list). See WP:RCAT. Oculi (talk) 14:54, 7 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge per Oculi. – Fayenatic London 16:53, 13 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per "Redirects are not usually sorted to article categories" (and these don't appear to be an exception to that rule). Categories of articles are like shelves of books in a library and having a whole shelf that just contains pointers to a book is unnecessary. DexDor (talk) 20:38, 15 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment Category has been emptied. Liz Read! Talk! 17:06, 28 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Online real estate companies[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: merge to country subcategories of Category:Real estate websites. MER-C 04:03, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: They are essentially the same thing by different names. Rathfelder (talk) 22:06, 27 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Most of the articles, also in the sibling categories by country, are about companies however. They should not be removed from the companies tree. I do not have an immediate solution at hand. Marcocapelle (talk) 09:05, 28 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • We could merge them the other way round. But that of course takes them out of the websites tree. I have put "Online companies" into both trees. We can do the same with these - they are a subcategory of Online companies. Rathfelder (talk) 20:40, 28 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • With that, I can support the nomination. (I would oppose a reverse merge though, because not all websites are of companies.) Marcocapelle (talk) 21:27, 28 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • If merged, it should be a selective merge, as most are now in sub-cats for American/ British/ Chinese / Indian real estate websites. The remainder are listed in this Petscan. – Fayenatic London 09:28, 29 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Split -- The target is a container-only page, most of whose contents are national versions of it. Category:Online real estate companies and Category:Online real estate websites are not split. I am not sure that the websites category is not a duplicate which should be merged, but the better solution is to split the subject (also websites) into national categories and then see what is left. If there are international (or multi-national ones), they could be merged. However Oppose merging alone. Peterkingiron (talk) 16:01, 29 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • I would intend to split the merged category, whichever way we go, by country. I think all of them will be subcategorised. Rathfelder (talk) 22:45, 29 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Film criticism online[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: merge. MER-C 10:27, 15 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: No big difference between film criticism and film reviewing Rathfelder (talk) 10:34, 27 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak merge. As an art reviewer by trade (and definitely not an art critic) I'd disagree, but the difference is finicky enough that they can be grouped in the same category. Grutness...wha? 02:54, 28 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
