The result of the discussion was: rename. Good Ol’factory (talk) 03:33, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: "Street Fighter" is not a singular work, it's a franchise, it makes more sense to treat it like other franchise categories. ★Trekker (talk) 22:33, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support I agree that this is a media franchise, and not a singular work. Dimadick (talk) 17:52, 21 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: rename. Good Ol’factory (talk) 03:33, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Current name is very clunky. ★Trekker (talk) 22:23, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support To match the title of the original film. Though the film series could use its own main article. Dimadick (talk) 17:53, 21 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Industry[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: rename. Good Ol’factory (talk) 03:29, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: rename / disambiguate to match article space. Industry is a disambiguation page, linking to Industry (manufacturing) and Industry (economics). It looks like Category:Industry relates to Industry (manufacturing) while Category:Industries relates to Industry (economics). This is follow-up on this earlier discussion started by User:S.K.. An attempt to get WikiProject Economics involved in this discussion did not lead to any further comments. Marcocapelle (talk) 10:25, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Comment: The split would work for me. An alternative I was thinking about was to keep the two category names as is but give Category:Industry the meaning industry (economics) and make it a WP:TOPICCAT while Category:Industries becomes the corresponding WP:SETCAT for the same meaning. Not sure this would be understood though. --S.K. (talk) 18:23, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • No, it is clearly a set category, collecting all industries. Marcocapelle (talk) 18:25, 21 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Yep, cool, that would work. Singular for the topic category and plural for the set category. Perfect for me. --S.K. (talk) 08:59, 22 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: merge. Good Ol’factory (talk) 03:27, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: merge per WP:SMALLCAT, just one or two articles in each of these categories and they are not part of a large overall accepted sub-categorization scheme. Marcocapelle (talk) 10:18, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Midnight Club[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: delete. Good Ol’factory (talk) 03:27, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: delete, redundant category layer similar to WP:OCEPON cases, all content is already in the subcategory. Marcocapelle (talk) 10:15, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete Parent/Keep Subcat per nom. While I normally prefer 5+ articles, the subcategory has growth potential and would need to be tagged. - RevelationDirect (talk) 00:45, 21 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge to subcategory Category:Midnight Club games. There are only five articles, we do not need to have two categories. Dimadick (talk) 17:59, 21 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: delete, redundant category layer similar to WP:OCEPON cases, all content is already in the video games subcategory. Marcocapelle (talk) 10:15, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • I can't say I understand why this category, the original one for the series, should be deleted. Can you please point me to the relevant Wikipedia policy?ZXCVBNM (TALK) 20:01, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • WP:CAT: "The central goal of the category system is to provide navigational links to Wikipedia pages." This category only links to the eponymous article and one valid video games subcategory as content. Other than that it links to a template (which we normally do not include in a content category) and a subcategory of media files (which are included in the articles anyway). So the category does not provide any navigational benefit. Marcocapelle (talk) 06:28, 21 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Recipients of the Order of the Two Niles[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: delete. Good Ol’factory (talk) 03:23, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Per WP:NONDEFINING (WP:PERFCAT and WP:OCAWARD)
When foreign officials visit Sudan, or vice versa, the Order of the Two Niles is given out as souvenir to commemorate the visit. José Graziano da Silva, Koča Popović and Arthur Young (police officer) are not remotely defined by this award. I copied the current category contents right here so no work is lost if anyone wants to start a main article. - RevelationDirect (talk) 01:06, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Background In the past, we've deleted dozens of similar categories for high ranking visitors and those nominations are listed right here. - RevelationDirect (talk) 01:06, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, another obvious case of WP:OCAWARD. Marcocapelle (talk) 09:13, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete but listify properly -- These diplomatic honours are a menace in WP, but rather than a talk page, the list should actually be created. This should be a matter of course. Peterkingiron (talk) 17:46, 21 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • There is not even an article about the award, i.e. it is currently uncertain whether the award is notable or not. Then there is certainly no requirement for listification. Marcocapelle (talk) 20:23, 21 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • I share PKI's goal but I do not feel able to write an article that would pass WP:LISTN. I just added this award to the requested articles at Wikipedia:WikiProject Sudan and linked the list of recipients there. Hopefully an editor with more topic area knowledge will pick it up but I don't favor keeping this non-defining category in the mean time. RevelationDirect (talk) 19:33, 24 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete If someone can create an adequately sourced article on the award, they can amend a list of receipients to it, but we should not mandate creating such a list in the abscence of reliable sources.John Pack Lambert (talk) 13:28, 28 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Recipients of Geuzenpenning[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: delete. Good Ol’factory (talk) 03:22, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Per WP:NONDEFINING (WP:OCAWARD)
The Geuzen Resistance 1940–1945 Foundation is an organization based in the Vlaardingen, Netherlands that gives out the Geuzenpenning award each year for fighting for "democracy and against dictatorship, racism and discrimination" in memory of the WWII resistance. The articles in the category are about evenly split between those that mention the award in passing and those that don't mention it at all so it doesn't seem defining for Václav Havel, Noel Pearson or Harry Wu. Organizational winners like Amnesty International, the Anne Frank Foundation and Doctors Without Borders also don't seem defined by it. The contents are already listified right here in the main article for any reader interested in the topic. - RevelationDirect (talk) 01:06, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
