The result of the discussion was: rename. MER-C 18:21, 24 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: To reflect the new competition naming (source). Ideally, all subcategories should also be changed accordingly. Parutakupiu (talk) 22:23, 16 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: delete. MER-C 17:16, 24 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Minimal content for an eponymous category per WP:OCEPON. The two subcats sufficiently link to and from one another. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 20:57, 16 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: do as nominated. Those listed as "renaming" were actually "merges". Good Ol’factory (talk) 01:23, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Single-page category trees (respectively, Total Reality and Astro Boy (film)). –LaundryPizza03 (d) 20:13, 16 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Dreadnought hoax[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: keep. MER-C 18:27, 24 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: SMALLCAT ★Trekker (talk) 18:10, 16 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep Now at 12 members. Johnbod (talk) 16:51, 17 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep This is no longer a small category. Dimadick (talk) 15:33, 22 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. WP:NONDEF e.g. for Virginia Woolf. Only one article is specifically about the hoax and all the articles are in much more appropriate categories (e.g. the ship is categorized as a ship). Linking between related articles is in article text; categories are for grouping articles about similar topics. DexDor (talk) 09:48, 24 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It is less defining for VW than I suppose all the others, but picking the weakest link is not a good argument for deletion. It is certainly defining for most of them. That all members are in appropriate but unrelated other categories is no argument for deletion at all! If that's the best you've got, the case for "keep" looks stronger. Johnbod (talk) 11:28, 24 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It's non-defining for most/all of the articles (apart from the eponymous one) - e.g. many/most don't mention the hoax in the lede at all. That's the reason for deletion. DexDor (talk) 13:50, 24 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep, not a small category, and entries seem appropriate to the topic. Randy Kryn (talk) 14:20, 24 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: delete. MER-C 17:16, 24 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: SMALLCAT. Also, I doubt this is defining for the one character in this category. ★Trekker (talk) 18:02, 16 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom. Marcocapelle (talk) 20:39, 17 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete How would this be defining for a character? Would an entire bio section be dominated by a single event? Dimadick (talk) 15:35, 22 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: There is unanimity that only one of the categories should exist, so defaulting to the one with most support, which results in merge as nominated. Good Ol’factory (talk) 01:55, 17 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: We have no articles about non-fictional works about the 28th century. Unlike the, this one is not a WP:SMALLCAT. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 14:31, 16 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Duplicate category with a single article. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 14:29, 16 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: There is unanimity that only one of the categories should exist, so defaulting to the one with most support, which results in delete (contents were merged to Category:Fiction set in the 31st century). Good Ol’factory (talk) 01:50, 17 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Redundant layer of Category:Fiction set in the 31st century, containing only one of its 5 subcategories. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 14:28, 16 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Fiction set in the 7th millennium[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: merge. MER-C 17:44, 23 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Possible WP:SMALLCATs. 7th millennium has 2 pages, both of which are Doctor Who episodes; 9th millennium has one book and Category:Mega Man Legends; and 10th millennium has one television series and the television episode "The Late Philip J. Fry". –LaundryPizza03 (d) 14:15, 16 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Category:5th millennium[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: delete. MER-C 17:54, 23 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: WP:SMALLCAT. Various articles about the future, such as 5th millennium, have been merged into broader-scope articles, in this case List of future astronomical events, due to lack of content aside from things like the Time Pyramid and astronomical events. These categories contain no contents except for a fiction-related subcategory. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 13:58, 16 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom - originally took me a second to realise these were millennia and not centuries, but the subcategories could be moved easily elsewhere. SportingFlyer T·C 16:13, 17 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom, redundant category layer for future periods that are too far ahead for non-fictional content. Marcocapelle (talk) 19:21, 18 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The above is preserved as an archive of the discussion. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
