Nominator's rationale: There's only 1 article in this cat. Sean Brunnock (talk) 14:53, 20 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep found several non-free website favicon files that were not categorized, these originated from website urls containing "favicon" -- 65.92.246.142 (talk) 23:46, 26 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.

Nominator's rationale: The word "based" is verbose and doesn't add any real value. -- RoySmith (talk) 16:43, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Upon further reflection, withdrawing my nomination. The use of "based in" seems to be the standard style for these types of things. -- RoySmith (talk) 17:12, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Railway stations served by Abellio ScotRail[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: Rename Timrollpickering (talk) 22:02, 1 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Abellio ScotRail will be superseded by ScotRail Trains on 1 April 2022. Precedent is to only have a category for incumbent rather than former operators, e.g. Category:Railway stations served by East Midlands Trains was renamed Category:Railway stations served by East Midlands Railway when that franchise changed hands after a similar CfD. With this move request having resulted in a unanimous consensus to rename the ScotRail Trains article to ScotRail, propose this category be renamed to reflect this per C2D .Blamelstone (talk) 10:25, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Support though the new name ought to be Category:Railway stations served by ScotRail. NemesisAT (talk) 10:38, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Yes, the start of the category name should certainly stay at "Railway stations served by". Marcocapelle (talk) 03:38, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator comment: accidentally forgot Railway stations served by as noted in 2 comments above in the original nomination, have now corrected. Blamelstone (talk) 09:04, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Support as others with Category:Railway stations served by ScotRail 10mmsocket (talk) 07:49, 4 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Given that this is an uncontroversial move - ScotRail have 100% replaced Abellio ScotRail - can we speedy action this? 10mmsocket (talk) 07:50, 4 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Comment, the process is that the discussion remains open for a minimum 7 days and then can be closed. Suggest that we respect the process, it really isn't urgent. Blamelstone (talk) 02:52, 5 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Now way more than 7 days. Can we close? 10mmsocket (talk) 06:28, 20 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: delete. (non-admin closure) Extraordinary Writ (talk) 20:45, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: WP:NONDEF. Who wrote the music for a video game is rarely a defining characteristic of the video game; for example, if people write about BioShock, they generally don't do so by describing it as "BioShock, the game scored by Garry Schyman". Only one of the articles in this category mentions the composer in the lead. - This is a pilot nomination for the other categories in Category:Video games by composer, which may also need to be nominated for deletion if this category is deleted, except maybe the games scored by the most prominent of composers. Sandstein 08:41, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom. Marcocapelle (talk) 03:40, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as this is hardly a defining characteristic of a video game.--Mvqr (talk) 12:58, 4 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Language activists[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: rename without the hyphen. There exists a general consensus to rename, but there are also several other proposed names that are more radically different and may have some level of support. Since Ham II has stated their intention to nominate the entire tree at Category:Language activists to one of those proposed wordings, the best course of action may be to simply refresh that particular discussion with a clean slate. bibliomaniac15 19:18, 11 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: These are subcategories of Category:Language activists, not of a hypothetical "activists by language" category as the current style implies. They're for language activists on behalf of Bengali, Catalan, etc., and not for activists of any kind who conduct their activism in the Bengali, Catalan, etc., languages. Ham II (talk) 19:30, 28 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I dont see how taking the hyphen out achieves the desired result.Rathfelder (talk) 23:18, 4 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
With hyphen they are e.g. Bengali-speaking people, without hyphen they are language activists. Marcocapelle (talk) 08:54, 5 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure that many editors would understand that. And surely the whole point is that most of them are speakers of the language as well activists for it?Rathfelder (talk) 15:49, 5 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • If they understand then the rename does its job. If they do not understand then the rename does not harm. Marcocapelle (talk) 17:53, 5 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.
Relisting comment: Would like to see if there's more agreement on naming scheme. Should it be "Activists of FOO language," "Activists for the FOO language," or "Language activists for FOO"?
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, bibliomaniac15 00:37, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Apart from removing the dash I do not have a particular preference. Marcocapelle (talk) 05:08, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment -- There is a potential distinction between Category:Bengali-language activists and Category:Bengali language-activists, but does it matter? Categories are often slightly woolly in their scope, e.g. attempts at splitting "people from" categories have usually been resisted. Peterkingiron (talk) 17:26, 1 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • My preference is for "Activists for the FOO language", because it's idiomatic (unlike "Activists of FOO language") and because the parent articles on the languages are usually at "FOO language" (the main argument against "Language activists for FOO" as I see it). I'm not completely opposed to "Language actviists for FOO", though; "FOO" as opposed to "FOO language" seems to work fine at Category:Linguists by language of study.

There are exceptions to my second point above, where the parent article isn't at "FOO language"; of the languages at Category:Language activists (not only the ones listed in this nom), they are Esperanto (for Category:Esperantists), Lhasa Tibetan (for Category:Tibetan-language activists) and Scottish Gaelic (for Category:Scottish Gaelic language activists).* "Esperantists" is arguably sui generis and needn't change. Scottish Gaelic presumably has the article title it does because unlike "Irish", "Welsh" and so on it can't be mistaken for a nationality. I don't know what to do about Lhasa Tibetan being the parent article title, to be honest! But I'm inclined towards "Activists for the Scottish Gaelic language" and "Activists for the Tibetan language" as category names, to keep internal consistency in the category naming scheme, and also keep the words "activist" and "language" because of the name of the parent category.

A change to the naming scheme beyond taking out the hyphens is going to affect far more subcategories of Category:Language activists than are listed here, so I'd be tempted to request closure and re-nominate with a proposal for a more wide-ranging change to "Activists for the FOO language". Sorry that this has got rather dysfunctional. Ham II (talk) 08:17, 2 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

*A further niggle is Quechuan language for Category:Quechua language activists – i.e., the current category name refers to members the Quechua people who are language activists. If I re-nominate I might argue for changing that to "Quechuan" (the language) for internal consistency in the category names. Ham II (talk) 08:17, 2 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Rename per nom; I just noticed this set of categories and was glad to see them nominated already. 1234qwer1234qwer4 14:07, 3 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • @bibliomaniac15 (or anyone who's in a position to close): It's been more than a month since the last comment; I'd like this to be closed so that I can start a new CfD for changing all subcats of Category:Language activists with the names of languages (no only those in this nomination) to Activists for the [Foo] language. I'd ping in everyone who's !voted. Ham II (talk) 18:14, 11 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: no consensus. (non-admin closure) Qwerfjkltalk 18:32, 24 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Per parent category Category:Shopping malls and child category Category:Shopping malls by management company Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 15:57, 18 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • True, but it seems the articles discuss ownership. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:03, 20 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment -- Calling these "malls" is an Americanism, but I could not see much in the category that was not American or Canadian, except Westfield - UK & Austrialian. Peterkingiron (talk) 17:31, 1 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
