Nominator's rationale: We have an article on fishing industry, but not on seafood industry (note: it was a red link, but I've created a redirect from seafood industry to fishing industry just now). In our article on the fishing industry, there is an (unreferenced...) claim that In the industry, the term seafood products is often used instead of fish products. However, our Category:Fishing companies is extremely underpopulated, whereas we have a better developed Category:Seafood companies. Since fish is a subcategory of seafood, and very few if any fishing companies don't fish other seafoods (shrimp, whatever), this means that practically while there may be a few tiny fishing-only small companies, fishing industry = seafood industry, and fishing company = seafood company. I think we should merge / rename our seafood company category to the fishing one (as such, this should result in renaming of Category:Seafood companies by continent and Category:Seafood companies by country.   • I was a bit sceptical about it, but I cannot yet find companies in this tree that are not a fishing company. However, the subcategories should be nominated and renamed as well, otherwise the impact of the merge is negligable. Marcocapelle (talk) 19:09, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose, as "seafood companies" would include those that are only involved in canning, preparation, or distribution rather than catching. And is aquaculture considered "fishing"? Marcocapelle, I checked the entries in Category:Seafood companies of the United States, and some are solely involved in post-harvest operations. DMacks (talk) 14:32, 13 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: This is a tough one. We don't have any article for geophysical company geophysical industry, and while the term has some use, I couldn't find a definition. This is problematic as if we cannot define this term, how can we categorize entities into it? I'd be more than happy if this is closed after somebody stubs a referenced entry on this topic, but if this cannot happen, then we have to ask - is this a useful category, or just some weird jargon placeholder with no clear criteria on how we add entities to it?
