Nominator's rationale: Partial merge of just the page Liberland. It only contains that page plus a biography of its founder-president. – Fayenatic London 23:16, 30 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Regardless of the AfD results for the primary article, this category is nondefining. It also fails WP:SMALLCAT and was created by a sockpuppet. gidonb (talk) 22:26, 30 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Improperly constructed and unpopulated. If we keep the template, I suggest we upmerge it to Category:Zygaenoidea stubs. Her Pegship (?) 22:12, 30 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: keep. Needs larger nomination. (non-admin closure) Qwerfjkltalk 20:41, 8 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Category has only one very famous member, and is (hopefully) unlikely to grow.  — Mr. Guye (talk) (contribs)  09:03, 14 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • upmerge - as suggested by Sionk. Hopefully the number of journalists murdered (whether or not an assassination) will be too small in most countries to merit a category. This is a case where splitting everything produces a host of minute categories, something we discourage. Peterkingiron (talk) 19:03, 24 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Relisting comment: The rest of Category:Assassinated journalists by nationality?

  • Keep per Oculi. There is no reason to delete only Malta if all of the other small categories are not also nominated.--User:Namiba 15:18, 30 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete OR keep. Delete if expanded to all the smallcat by country (can still be done), and keep if only Malta remains nominated. gidonb (talk) 01:20, 5 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: As cricket is essentially an English sport, the British spelling should be used even if the American spelling is applicable to one of the parent categories. BcJvs | talk UTC 05:46, 14 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The Oxford spelling is a variation from the norm and an exception to the general rule, as the WP article itself indicates, because the -ise ending is common usage in not only England, but also Australia and India – these three being the world's leading cricket countries. See WP:ISE as the main guideline on En-GB and also WP:IZE just below it which openly admits: The alternative spelling ise (reflecting a French influence) is in common use, especially in British English. I'm aware the word is not used in any of the four sub-cats but I don't see how that is relevant. BcJvs | talk UTC 13:02, 14 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The Oxford spelling was the preferred usage in the UK from the 1500s (Shakespeare, King James Bible) throughout the 1960s until at some point people convinced themselves (wrongly) that it was an Americanism. Oculi (talk) 15:34, 14 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Oxford spelling is not the most common current spelling in the UK or the main countries that play cricket (which are mostly Commonwealth countries). "Organisation" is the common spelling in Commonwealth cricket playing countries, and so this category should follow MOS:TIES. It is common for different spellings in categories between parent and child categories where countries have different spellings of the word, as they do here. Joseph2302 (talk) 09:27, 15 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Oculi and in the spirit of MOS:COMMONALITY, the z spelling is more universally accepted across English variants. Marcocapelle (talk) 18:11, 15 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No, it is not. Only in America. See Peter's comment below which summarises the issue in a nutshell. BcJvs | talk UTC 11:33, 25 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That is one publisher only and the piece is "according to Merriam-Webster" who are famous for their contributions to American English. Whatever the origin of -ize as an ending, common usage in GB and other English-speaking countries, especially in those where cricket is a major sport, is the non-American -ise ending. • Support nom -- This is an ENGVAR issue, where American orthography should not be imposed. Cricket is mainly played in countries that use British orthography, so that the category should reflect that. This does not mean that parents have to be changed. • Keep per Oculi, all the more as this only holds categories (not named org), no articles. For the record, as well as Gaelic games organisations (mainly Ireland) there is only Carrom organisations (mainly Commonwealth) currently using the -s- spelling. However, there should be a redirect at the other spelling, so I have set this up. (This was done a few years ago for all org categories at the time.) – Fayenatic London 17:59, 1 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Fairly uncontroversial relisting, since they were part of a batch deletion that failed. There was consensus toward deleting these odd and unnecessary categories. Why? I Ask (talk) 04:01, 30 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: The category's title suggests it should contain only Kwasu library. The description suggests it should also contain Kwara state library, but in that case it should be renamed Category:Libraries in Kwara State. DB1729talk 02:06, 30 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, not per nom's rationale (as that should have led to a rename proposal instead of a deletion proposal), but per WP:SMALLCAT. There is no reason to merge, the article is already in the parent categories as well. Marcocapelle (talk) 06:31, 30 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    • I should have been more clear. My point was, the title suggests one member, yet the category's description suggests two (albeit under the wrong title). Either way, yes it would be, per WP:SMALLCAT, "Small with no potential for growth". DB1729talk 06:46, 30 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - Category:Libraries in Nigeria is not large enough to subcat by state. Oculi (talk) 21:41, 30 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
