Nominator's rationale: Completely useless Italic languages-family-based WP:ARBITRARY WP:CROSSCATs that nobody needs for navigation. So what if the Romans, Samnites and Sabines spoke linguistically related languages? How did that affect their battle tactics, their strategic thinking, their unit formations etc.? It didn't. Nominator's rationale: Non-notable intersections by ethnicity per WP:OCEGRS; emphasis on earlier LaundryPizza03 explanation (here) that WP:NARROWCAT applies regardless. We don't categorize people by occupation of a Foo country by ethnicity, religion, etc.
It concerns WP:CATDEF; WP:NONDEFINING, WP:ETHNICRACECAT refers to WP:COP (WP:COP#N/WP:COPHERITAGE);
As a sidenote, many, if not all, articles lack references to prove the claim laid in the category; it's all doing of one and the same editor with a knack for creating distinct categories based on ethnicity.     Upmerge to Category:Bosnia and Herzegovina fooers, e.g. Category:Bosnia and Herzegovina scientists. Deleting them means pulling them out of the Category:Bosnia and Herzegovina people by occupation, where they do belong. Wouldn't you agree @Marcocapelle?       Oh wait, I misunderstood this category. I thought it was "ethnic Croats living in BiH who are scientists", but it's "people living in Croatia who are scientists and who also just so happen to have been born in BiH". That last bit is trivial yes. Unless "BiH brain drain to Croatia" was a well-recognised phenomenon with a main article, then perhaps, but not like this. Manual merge then.   • Comment.@Marcocapelle:; @Nederlandse Leeuw:, before someone plunges into sea of blp's and bio's for checking which should or should not be up/manually merged, following could info be useful for anyone considering exactly that. The thing with these Croat of foo-occupation of Bosnia and Herzegovina is that they are doing of one editor with a knack for creating these "ethnicized categories", so to speak, under Bosnia and Herzegovina for the sole purpose of separating blp's/bio's based on one ethnic identity, and that all Croat foo-occupation of Bosnia and Herzegovina cats are recently created over a period of just day or two. However, and here I was almost compelled writing "needles to say....", most if not all of the blp/bio articles categorized with these nominated for deletion categories were/are already properly categorized in either Croatian foo-occupation, Bosnia and Herzegovina foo-occupation, or in some cases both. In other words, it is fairly reasonable and safe to assume that no need for up/manual merge actually exist at all. If some of the bio articles had not been categorized as either Croatian foo-occupation or Bosnia and Herzegovina foo-occupation it's either a fluke and/or it is because there is no sources-based discussion in them mentioning blp's/bio's adherence to one or the other country.in the first place.--౪ Santa ౪99° 23:24, 26 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
