The result of the discussion was: merge to Category:Wiki-related conferences with no prejudice against recreation if the category can be appropriately populated.. (non-admin closure) HouseBlastertalk 00:40, 4 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Only contains one page of the same name. Lewcm Talk to me! 23:40, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: dabify (which includes purging the article). (non-admin closure) HouseBlastertalk 21:56, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: The category only contains 1 item, and the categories for New York City and State both exist already. Lewcm Talk to me! 23:38, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Support in principle. Can we turn it into a disambiguation category (or whatever it's called)? Or would that just perpetuate the problem by providing a third category? Mason (talk) 23:50, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Purge article, its setting is unclear, the cover suggests that it is set at the beach. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:38, 26 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The above is preserved as an archive of the discussion. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.

Category:Burn survivors in fiction[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: rename to Category:Fiction about burn survivors. (non-admin closure) HouseBlastertalk 00:39, 4 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Consistency with precedent about X-in-fiction categories. The alternative is to rename to Category:Fictional burn survivors and limit to characters. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 21:01, 17 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Rename to Category:Fictional burn survivors. AHI-3000 (talk) 01:41, 20 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.
Relisting comment: @Lenticel, Smasongarrison, and Marcocapelle: do you want to rename to Category:Fiction about burn survivors or Category:Fictional burn survivors?
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, HouseBlastertalk 22:50, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • @HouseBlaster: good question, but I did not receive a ping, so perhaps it is technically not possible to ping while relisting. Marcocapelle (talk) 23:04, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Clarify, it should become Category:Fiction about burn survivors because a significant number of articles are about works rather than about characters. I do not see merit in purging the works. Marcocapelle (talk) 23:04, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think reenaming the category to Fiction about burn survivors is better because it is broader. I don't think we should narrow the category to just about the characters themselves. If needed the subcategory of Fictional burn survivors could be added as a subcategory in the future, but the category doesn't need to be diffused right now. Mason (talk) 23:46, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support rename to Category:Fiction about burn survivors, thanks for the ping --Lenticel (talk) 04:15, 26 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: merge both to Category:Warhammer 40,000 and Category:Military science fiction characters (non-admin closure) Qwerfjkltalk 12:58, 16 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Only one article and two redirects; main article no longer exists. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 13:51, 14 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.
Relisting comment: @Zxcvbnm, LaundryPizza03, and Thumperward: do you have an opinion on Marcocapelle's suggestion for a dual merge?
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, HouseBlastertalk 22:33, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment There's like, one article there that's actually not a redirect, but yes, should also be put in military sci-fi characters. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 01:57, 26 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
My gut feeling is that most of the characters cats will themselves eventually be deleted (because most of it is, yet again, in-universe junk) whereas the 40k cat might stick around (and it it doesn't, the new correct parent wpuld be category:Games Workshop). Category:Films shot in Apta railway station[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: delete. No opposition after 2.5 weeks; WP:REFUND applies. (non-admin closure) HouseBlastertalk 21:53, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Overcategorization by venue. We can categorize films by the geographic locations (province, state, city, town, etc.) where they were filmed, if numbers warrant, but we don't ordinarily categorize films by specific building that might have been used as a set -- and it's not at all clear that Apta railway station would have enough special significance to warrant unique treatment that most other buildings aren't getting. Category:Tift College alumni[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: delete with no prejudice against recreation if the category can be appropriately populated. (non-admin closure) HouseBlastertalk 00:37, 4 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Single-entry category for just one alumna of a defunct college. As always, every educational institution that exists does not automatically get one of these the moment one former student has an article to file in it -- there would need to be at least five people to file here before a category for them was warranted, but a scan of the college's what-links-here failed to turn up four other alumni. Bearcat (talk) 17:45, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Alternative. How about we broaden the scope of the category to Category:Tift College Mason (talk) 17:49, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There would still have to be at least five articles to file in that — but none of them could be people, because if the college doesn't have dedicated "Alumni of" and "Academic staff of" subcategories then the alumni and academic staff do not go directly into "College" as a substitute for alumni or academic staff subcategories either. So the college would have to have at least five articles about inanimate things associated with it to justify an eponymous category for the college itself, and there would still have to be at least five alumni before they got any Tift-related categorization at all. Bearcat (talk) 17:56, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Good point. Support per nom. Perhaps eventually there will be enough to support a category, but it seems like not yet. Thanks for explaining it :) Mason (talk) 23:53, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete for now, without objection to recreate the category when more articles about alumni are created. Marcocapelle (talk) 19:52, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Categories for video games based on TV shows with only two articles in each[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: merge to Category:Video games based on television series. (non-admin closure) HouseBlastertalk 00:41, 4 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: All of these only have two articles each within them, and make it harder for readers to browse the subcategories of Category:Video games based on television series to see what series have 3+ notable video game adaptations. QuietCicada - Talk 03:47, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge to Category:Video games based on television series rather than delete. I checked whether the articles are already directly interlinked only for the last category, and that appeared to be the case. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:30, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge Per Marcocapelle and WP:SMALLCAT. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 21:59, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    @Zxcvbnm FYI, smallcat isn't a policy anymore. Mason (talk) 00:46, 26 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, my bad, I wasn't aware that happened last month.
Still, I believe these ought to be merged, as it creates a Pandora's Box of making categories for literally every form of media that has 1-2 spinoff games. This is simply too broad. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 01:55, 26 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
