The result of the discussion was: rename. (non-admin closure) Qwerfjkltalk 18:11, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Disambiguate from Jeremy Wilson, who is a different person. Cleans up after a manual cut-and-paste move attempt. * Pppery * it has begun... 23:57, 2 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Rename per nom, to reduce ambiguity. Marcocapelle (talk) 06:18, 3 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Rename per nom. Good suggestion Mason (talk) 02:00, 4 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment / Question is there a standard for this type of naming? Seems like some of these were named via a multi-author publication that had Wilson as the first author but certainly not the most notable author. --User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 16:00, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Names of Germanic origin[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: reverse merge. (non-admin closure) Qwerfjkltalk 20:11, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: WP:OVERLAPCAT. NLeeuw (talk) 23:14, 2 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Alt rationale: This is broader and includes name forms that would not be attested in the original Germanic languages, but are certainly derived from them. Think about Spanish Guillermo or Italian Guglielmo, not attested in Germanic languages themselves, but ultimately derived from Germanic Wilhelm (name)/Willem/William etc. This may set a good precedent for other renamings in Category:Names by language. See also the Category:Songs in Latin precedent. NLeeuw (talk) 23:24, 2 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comparison Category:Slavic-language names. Not sure if this should be added to the nom, but there is no single "Slavic language". Perhaps "Proto-Slavic" or "of Slavic origin" is meant? That would make more sense. But, names such as Vladimiro and Wladimiro derive from Germanic Valdemar. NLeeuw (talk) 23:38, 2 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge or reverse merge, it is very closely-related content. Marcocapelle (talk) 06:39, 3 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Reverse merge per WP:OVERLAPCAT. And because I think we should be matching the standard at Category:Surnames by culture. - jc37 18:23, 5 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Reverse merge: Clearly and identifiably different categories. Germanic names are ..er.. native Germanic names. While Names of Germanic origin are names modified from Germanic in other languages/cultures, sometimes beyond guessing. - Altenmann >talk 19:21, 7 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: merge to Category:Summer festivals. (non-admin closure) Qwerfjkltalk 20:14, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: WP:NARROWCAT. Festival is based on mythology, not language family. Category has only 1 P, 0 C. NLeeuw (talk) 23:08, 2 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Storage systems[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: rename. (non-admin closure) Qwerfjkltalk 20:15, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Per the cat description, this category is indeed for computer data storage systems. Renaming avoid confusions; the cat currently contains Coin folder, Coin slab, and Coin storage which are "storage systems", of a sort, for coins. The proposed target is consistent with sibling categories Category:Computer storage companies, Category:Computer storage media, and Category:Computer storage companies.
