HOLD-off AWARDING AREA[edit]

Rgdboer[edit]

  • Note: Do not award. Editor Rgdboer has made it known that he would prefer NOT being awarded. ```Buster Seven Talk 17:02, 13 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Detail and precision have been the hallmark of Editor Rgdboers' long editing history. While a little over 6000 edits since late 2004 is not remarkable, as one collaborator noted his contributions "exhibit an extraordinary desire to present and preserve historically and factually correct information". He is actively involved in monitoring the over 60 articles, most in the field of Mathematics, he has created such as Hyperbolic triangle, Hyperbolic coordinates, Split-complex number and a number of biographies of mathematicians. ```Buster Seven Talk 13:33, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

With more than 130k edits and great knowledge about WP:EL, I think that Beetstra is immensely talented, helpful and considerably underrated. Beetstra makes editing easier and a much more joyful experience by maintaining a friendly working atmosphere. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 00:06, 20 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Editor Ijon[edit]

  • Note: Do not award. Editor Ijon has made it known that he would prefer NOT being awarded. . Buster Seven Talk 05:27, 29 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

User:Ijon aka User:Asaf of the WMF started editing Wikipedia (mainly Hebrew or Wikipedia:Israel) in 2003. In 2010 or 2011, he became a WMF employee and currently is travelling all over the world every month to organize and improve communities. In October (2014) He came to India and has been helping to improve, organize and stimulate participation in "En Wp India Community". His latest endeavour is to organize the Ukrainian community.
Helping develop the number and quality of editors is very very important and deserves our appreciation. He provides help and guidance on contributing to Wikipedia wherever he goes and still takes time to explain "signing an edit" to a new inexperienced editor. That is why I am very eager to nominate him. He has been doing exceptional work for many communities, starting regular public talks about Wikipedia in many communities, and still always looks forward to collaborating with other editors. It is our responsibility to show our appreciation to this editor. --TitoDutta 12:54, 18 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Previously known as #364[edit]

  • I am pleased to present User:Ozzie10aaaa (talk · contribs · count · logs) as a nominee for EotW. He is a Medical content creator 'par excellance' and an active participant at Wikipedia:Project Medicine. Over 77% of his over 100K edits have been to the Mainspace of Wikipedia. Check out Kivu or Ebola epidemic or Western African Ebola virus epidemic or Covid-19 pandemic to see his efforts. He often replies at the HELP DesK. If WP (and the world) had more goodhearted editors such as OZZIE we would all be a lot happier. He is a joy to work with. He knows how to cooperate. A working editor needs an ego that is strong enough to not feel a need to defend his every edit and at the same time is able to work with others for the benefit of the project....and that's a good thing. Gandydancer (talk)
I am grateful for Gandydancer, and her nomination, however due to certain harassment problems Im having with another editor, I might not be editing here much longer, therefore I decline this award (no disrespect to Gandy, and this has nothing to do with her which I only have respect for, unfortunately these things happen)--Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 14:57, 1 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Sad news to lose a quality editor such as yourself to idle and nefarious actions. Many fine editors have faced this dilemma, myself included. I stayed away from articles he worked on. Upon his arrival, anywhere, I immediately removed myself from the article or the conversation or even un-voted in RFA. This nomination will not happen for two months, it's the last in the Queue. I am pinging @Gandydancer: to let her know and I will follow your wishes when the time comes. Take Care Be Safe. ―Buster7  23:27, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I only just saw this--somehow I missed the ping. This really makes me feel quite badly! Ozzie has always been so good to work with I can't understand why anyone would harass him. Can either of you tell me more? Gandydancer (talk) 13:24, 3 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Ozzie10aaaa: and @Gandydancer: Ozzie,(One of the all-time great Survivor participants), I happily see that you have resumed editing. Just checking in to see if you may have changed you mind about getting a pat on the back for a job well done. That's all it really is. There is no sense in depriving ourselves (and the nominator) of little pieces of happiness just because other people are ____________. I'll let you fill in the blank... you never know who is peeking 'round the corner! Why let then win? Be safe, Take care... ―Buster7  16:57, 9 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Previously known as #394[edit]

I wish to nominate SebastianHelm (talk · contribs · count · logs) as Editor of the Week. For many years I had a link to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Sri Lanka Reconciliation/housekeeping included on my user page along with other "discoveries" I had made over the years. Planning to do some housekeeping I linked to it and was delighted to discover a treasure trove of collaborative thoughts and ideas presented by a true veteran of early WikiPedia struggles. The Sri lanka project became a model for similar projects in the English and French Wikipedia. Sebastian began editing in JAN2003. That is not a typo. He has been continuously active, even if, at times, only slightly. He has 21000 edits with over a third to mainspace. During his Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/SebastianHelm he was widely acclaimed for "doing a sterling job as a mediator" and for "bringing editors together, at the same table, to work constructively with each other". That claim still holds true after all these years. He actively promotes Wikipedia as a welcoming place and is always "a calm and mature voice with a helping nature even in heated environments, where he is respected by all". He supports the Nonviolent Peaceforce and made important improvements to the article Nonviolence. Along with the Sri Lanka project he was an early collaborator and important member of Wikipedia:WikiProject Ireland Collaboration and Wikipedia:WikiProject Israel Palestine Collaboration. A visit to User:SebastianHelm/Mediation and User:SebastianHelm/principles will still provide important guidelines to editors new and old.

Previously known as #402[edit]

I nominate Yngvadottir (talk · contribs · count · logs) to be Editor of the Week. An editor at Wikipedia for more than ten years, she has made more than forty thousand edits and created hundreds of articles. She has a Ph.D. from the University of Oxford and is a specialist in Old Norse literature and religion. She has made significant contributions at Wikipedia in her field of expertise, and to other subjects as well. Thor, Harald Hardrada, Old Norse religion and many other articles are testimony to the quality work of Yngvadottir throughout the years. Krakkos (talk) 21:14, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

HOLD[edit]

For a variety of reasons sometimes it is necessary to place a HOLD on a nomination while it is being discussed. Any decision to return a nomination to the "seconding position" will be made by the EotW clerks and not by any ivote or consensus of respondents. Buster Seven Talk

Nomination of Dr. Blofeld[edit]

I nominate Dr. Blofeld (talk · contribs · count · logs) for this award. He has long been a creator of new articles and has more than 1000 DYKs to his credit, but the particular reason for nominating him now is his organisation of the current Awaken the dragon editathlon and contest. As well as liaising with Wikimedia UK to obtain some prizes he is organising this competition with great vigour, judging the entries, stimulating the participants and generally making it an interesting and "fun" competition. I think he is a great boon to Wikipedia. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:32, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

User:Dr. Blofeld[edit]

I struggle with this. Dr. B is an excellent editor and definitely worth of recognition - but the idea of this award were always to designed to recognise the unrecognised. And Dr. B is one of our top editors - he might even be our top article creator, I haven't looked up the numbers. He's well known and well recognised as brilliant... so this particular award, I'd say isn't for him. WormTT(talk) 09:07, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with what you say but proposed him because of his initiation of the Awaken the Dragon contest. I think he deserves to be honoured for that, and how else? Cwmhiraeth (talk) 09:58, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
That certainly makes sense. Knowing Dr. B, I think he'll be chuffed with the quality of the articles that have come about due to the contest. As I said, I'm in 2 minds, he definitely deserves the award, but I'm not sure the award fits with him. I was planning to barnstar him at the end of the contest, but I think I'll have to make him something a bit more special... WormTT(talk) 10:17, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I have to agree with Worm. While extremely worthy, this award is intended for the unrecognized. We have "stretched" the requirement in the past but then the rules get Hazy and serve no purpose and our original idea gets lost in the passing of time. I certainly thank Cwmhiraeth for the nomination and hope she understands and will nominate someone else. Note: I'm still open to accept based on Comments. Buster Seven Talk 13:24, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Dr. Blofeld was Editor of the Week on August 24, 2014. I imagine that this is one of the stretches that Buster Seven is referring to. Has anyone been given this award more than once? BlueMoonset (talk) 14:43, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the reminder, Bluemoon. We stretched for Doc, and, no one has received it more than once. 3 things go when you hit my age; your hearing, you eyesight, and, um, I forget the third thing. Has anyone seen my glasses? Buster Seven Talk 18:17, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination for Avi (An Administrator)[edit]

I nominate Avi (talk · contribs · count · logs) for his toiling in the snake pit death zone that is the I/P area, where he can always be trusted to come in, roll up his sleeves, and supply sensible mediation. To many on the other side of his POV, he is trusted precisely for his readiness to take on this burden. I disagree with him on most things, but appreciate that he takes great care, exactly, to see where people like myself are coming from, and, this is again rare, taking care to look thoroughly into the evidence others provide. By universal consent, most admins are, understandably, sick of that area, and he stands out as a beacon of administrative oversight in an unrewarding and time-consuming area. He needs encouragement to show up there a little more frequently, since even he has suffered fatigue from it. If you check my talk page, you will see other exemplary editors mentioned, whom I unwittingly averted by linking to, ruining the surprise, but they should be nominated on another occasion shortly. My nomination is seconded, on my talk page, by another fine unquarrelsome and meticulously fair editor . The surprise will work only if the nomination is actualized within a week, as the editor is off-line and on vacation till, I guess, 30 April. Thanks chaps for your sterling work.Nishidani (talk) 14:08, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The following is a conversation taken from Nishidani's talk page pertaining to this nomination of an Admin[edit]

Just had a look at your nom in the archives, and can't believe I didn't congratulate you then! I must have been away, or busy, or something. Anyway here's my congratulations now, super-well-deserved for all the hard word you do. I might even make an exception, and give you another barnstar... Long live old rascals! --NSH002 (talk) 08:53, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Though as a night-owl, barnstars are fine, at this stage, when 'second childishness and mere oblivion' ratchets up its logic (note my frequent typing errors!-some think it's Alzheimer's, but actually I never read what I write at speed on a shonky keyboard until it goes up, and even then I don't tinker much except to elide the more egregious mistakes) I think a 'bairnstar' is all that I should earn in the future:).
It embarrassed me, actually, just popping up out of the blue. I don't even know who nominated me. Since a request for assistance has been made, and I have been a beneficiary, I feel an obligation to come up with something. I think a principle of par condicio should operate here for me, and that I should try to think of excellent editors who disagree with me in terms of POV but who are scrupulous in applying policy: I'm minded to put down the names of User:Greyshark09, User:WarKosign and User:Irondome for consideration. I don't follow their work, but Greyshark has a useful specialization in historical geography,WarKosign on difficult articles, is meticulous in observing policy and reading sources closely; IronDome is omniscient about WW2, but plays a very important role in helping other editors. If you have any suggestions put them down here, and , when I've thought over this more, I'll drop a submission. Cheers N.Nishidani (talk) 11:49, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Well the editor who comes immediately to mind is Avi, than whom there is no-one more scrupulous in said area. Superb at keeping order in contentious discussions, and an example to all for civility. BTW it's supposed to be a surprise and you've just notified all 3 of those blue links above. Cheers! NSH001 (talk) 12:59, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Fucked up again? Apologies to all. Forgot about that linking. Avi, yes, 'ancestors' in Latin, and we could spring it on him without linking the name, perhaps with the Vergilian words that always spring to mind when I see his monicker,
genus immortale manet, multosque per annos
stat fortuna domus, et avi numerantur avorum (Georgics, IV 208-209)
Which with a little unpoetic license roughly runs:
(The noble line (genus) remains immortal, for many years
The family fortunes stand, from forefathers back to forefathers)
which comes naturally to mind because that line-stopping long+dactyl and spondee -multosque per annos- cross resonates with the diaspora of the Trojans as they battled the enmity of Juno and the vicissitudes of misfortune in order to shore themselves on a new homeland (Aeneid, Liber 1,31:'multosque per annos errabant, acti fatis' -'driven by fate, they wandered for many years'). The surprise too works, because it's Pesach which he's celebrating in Israel, (undoubtedly offline,) as long as he doesn't venture into the West Bank (Canada Park).:) Nishidani (talk) 13:51, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
That you inadvertently pinged those three doesn't preclude your nominating them, of course. And possibly Nableezy might be willing to co-nominate Avi with you, if that is what you decide? Regards, NSH001 (talk) 14:51, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I've already gone ahead. I mentioned you. I hate to disturb our raghead jihadi acquaintance on a matter like this:). You could second it, if you like. Or rather, I should second you because it was your idea. I'll archive this in a day or two, to avoid Avi seeing it if he ever checks in here on getting back. Nishidani (talk) 15:01, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I just saw and is not well known as a criterion, which might bar Avi. So I think we need to rally in a few supporters on this to argue if necessary, to surmount the technical objections that might arise, that Avi's work in the I/P zone is not well known (but much appreciated), and under stress of fatigue. If that Chicago lout can drop his falafel and look into this desperate point, it would be helpful.Nishidani (talk) 15:06, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I believe the editor in question is an Administrator which would prevent the nomination. Sorry. It's the one rule at EotW that is written in stone. But....rules are meant to be broken! I will comment at the Nomination page and refer to this discussion and we will see where it goes. Buster Seven Talk 22:10, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of 78.26 (An Administrator)[edit]

I nominate 78.26 (talk · contribs · count · logs) to be Editor of the Week for his work with records, recording and musical artists. A fairly new admin, he is also an active helper at Articles for Creation. 78.26 and I began working together some time ago with Elmo Tanner; our latest collaboration has been Charlie Applewhite. We hope (talk) 23:51, 23 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

We hope Please note: The editor is an administrator, and so by the criteria, ineligible. Buster Seven Talk 02:00, 24 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Doc James (An Administrator)[edit]

I nominate Doc James, to be Editor of the Week, as per his edit count alone last year was more than 30,000+.[1] I do realize he is an administrator, however in the case of an individual who is always willing to help perhaps an exception can be made. Also it goes without saying wikiproject Medicine would not be a top wikiproject if not for him, thank you--Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 23:40, 5 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Editor Buster7 (former facilitator of EotW)[edit]

Thanks Guys. Much appreciated. But I think for the good of the WER project I must decline. While the accolades of ones pears peers are inspiring and cherish-able, I think its best if I decline. Buster Seven Talk 19:40, 5 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Especially such cultivated ones... they're so arty (in a fermented kinda way). Martinevans123 (talk) 21:11, 5 July 2016 (UTC) [reply]
More like The Gnarly Man I'm afraid. I once had a pair, but they were causing mayhem. They no longer rule my world. Buster Seven Talk 10:26, 6 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Come on Buster, this was long overdue, and for once at least it should be us awarding you and not the other way round ;) Sainsf (talk · contribs) 05:02, 6 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Must decline? No. You musn't. In fact, I think this is a case where declining should not be an option. There two reasons I'd accept for not giving the award, firstly, they do not agree with the award in principle and that would be a kick in the face. I don't believe that's true as Buster has run it admirably for years. Secondly if the editor is too high profile, Buster does his work humbly, not causing a fuss. He deserves this award and should be given it, unless he comes up with a ruddy good reason not to. WormTT(talk) 07:44, 6 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hit the nail in the head. I'm sure you can't decline anymore ;) Sainsf (talk · contribs) 09:35, 6 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
While I truly appreciate the thought, I would rather not give WER naysayers (there have been some, surprisingly) any ammo that can be used to attack the project. The Eddy Award has kept Project Editor Retention alive and well as it awaits revitalization. And I feel honored just to know that, for years, I was an important "player" in that regard. In the paraphrased words of LBJ, "If nominated, I will not run and if elected, I will not serve". But thanks for the kind words. What would be nice, as a going away present, would be for all of you to get into the habit of visiting the awardee's talk page during their week and offering congrats and support. Now THAT I would consider my Award! Buster Seven Talk 10:04, 6 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose decline per Worm. All this nobility is making me sick! :) ―Mandruss  10:27, 6 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Visual aid

Comment - That's Buster's visual aid, not mine! ―Mandruss  10:40, 6 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose decline - even congratulating awardees would not suffice to reward you! Sainsf (talk · contribs) 10:45, 6 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • I've been reading the comments here and on my talk page in my (limited) time, and I don't yet have an adequate response. Buster, I really want you to take this award, but if push comes to shove, I will not award you this over your objection. I will expand on this when I can. Thanks all, Kevin (aka L235 · t · c) 03:10, 7 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Every now and then a situation arises that requires a different type of WER sanctioned acknowledgement other then an Editor of the WeeK...administrator, 10 year veteran, past facilitator. And when they arose, we have had conversations about creating some type of new-fangled barnstar-like template (See the conversations just above ↑↑↑). But, so far, none has come to fruition. Years back, when it started, the hope for the Editor Retention Project was much more than just a project that handed out weekly awards. But, for whatever reasons, that is what has evolved. So, a part of me doesn't think we should enlarge our "those are the editors that give out awards" personna but another part sees a need that can be filled by creating something new. The next time an Administrator is nominated, we will have something, a template, ready for use! So...the challenge is for someone to create something worthy of WER's logo. Buster Seven Talk 18:21, 7 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Jimbo Wales[edit]

Does not fit the criteria. Couldn't pick a better example of an inappropriate nomination if I tried. John from Idegon (talk) 21:53, 3 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I nominate Jimbo Wales (talk · contribs · count · logs) for nomination to be nominated for the nominations at the Editor of the Week nomination awards for being worthy of nomination just by founding Wikipedia itself. --Turkeybutt (talk) 14:05, 3 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of SashiXXXXX[edit]

I nominate Editor SashiRolls to join the list of Editors of the Week. She has been active since AUG2018 and is "of good high character and caliber with a healthy mind". She has received enthusiastic and unfettered support from more than a few fellow editors. She has 8000 edits with 50% of them to main space. The many varied articles she edits have real life social impact that require a diplomatic demeanor. Her favorites are Yellow vests movement, Jill Stein, 2019 Algerian protests. Sashi is patient and her humor provides a relief at articles that can get contentious. Her "eye and pen" prevent messes in her wake. Editors User:Gandydancer and User:Petrarchan47 have seconded this nomination. ―Buster7  17:08, 17 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I worked with Sashi at the Dakota Access Pipeline protests. She does indeed have a good intellect but even more than that she was easy to work with in our talk page discussions and welcoming and helpful to new editors. And another thing, when other editors had gone on to more exiting action in newly breaking controversial articles, something that is pretty common in my experience, Sashi was still there to help to wrap things up as the pipeline protests came to an end. Gandydancer (talk) 17:05, 19 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Please see WP:AE. --Tryptofish (talk) 18:31, 19 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I have given WP:AE a cursory viewing. In 7 years of awarding it is rare that someone steps forward with a negative viewpoint as to who should receive the award. It happened with Eric C. and the consensus within the discussion group at that time was that we don't look for "angels" and that if a User is nominated it would take egregious behavior for them to be denied. It will be a few weeks before this nomination works its way up the Queue and at this point I see no reason to put it on hold. ―Buster7  20:19, 19 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
SashiRolls was just sanctioned for their actions at that AE and it also lists a bunch of previous sanctions including the Jill Stein article you mentioned related to problems with GMOs. This is after coming off their 2017 indef block after Nov 2018, not August. This doesn't seem to be the type of nomination that should go forward at this time. Kingofaces43 (talk) 03:23, 21 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I personally feel the time may not right for a recognition right now. That being said, putting aside my personal feelings, it is true that the Editor of the Week recognition is designed to be a low-key pat on the back recognizing specific good work without endorsing all of the editor's behaviour. I appreciate why some may not be happy with this. But the idea is to encourage the good work with positive feedback, in the hope that the editor will continue in that direction. Perhaps this can be revisited in six weeks, prior to the recognition being given, to see what has transpired in the meantime? isaacl (talk) 04:00, 21 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) Since I am the User that made the nomination, I am willing to begrudgingly forego the nomination for the time being. But I'm not happy about it. With 6 editors in the Queue this award would have been distributed in late June. Hopefully more nominations will be made (maybe by Trypofish and Kingofaces) and we can move this one back a month or so. But, eventually, this editor will receive this award. ―Buster7  04:16, 21 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Just to stress that I also said at this time too. Better to distance the recent events and focus on good edits and helpful behavior. Maybe things will turn around, but too many things came up at those discussions that ran counter to the goals of this project that I did feel the need to speak up. Kingofaces43 (talk) 04:27, 21 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Understood and we appreciate your input and concern. The goal of this project is to retain editors not to scold them or withhold our goodwill toward them. What I found on this editors talk page were positive comments about positive helpful behavior. I really didn't "vet" her any further than that. Once someone is suggested I don't look for reasons NOT to award them. ―Buster7  04:39, 21 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
In keeping with the agreement above, I have inserted a nominee in position 319 and move SR down one. ―Buster7  13:14, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Buster7 I think you will need to put this user on hold for now. Gandydancer (talk) 01:28, 7 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Since @Gandydancer: is one of the nominators I will put this ON HOLD as requested and forego the nomination for the time being.―Buster7  12:14, 21 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Buster7: I got the ping you sent me today. That editor is 1-way IBANed from interacting with me, so I feel that it's only fair that I, in turn, do not discuss them. As factual information for your consideration, there recently was Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Enforcement/Archive258, earlier this month. --Tryptofish (talk) 21:41, 25 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for responding so quickly Trypto. That's why I asked. I just want to clean this up before the new year. I'll wait for the others but I'm leaning toward passing on the whole thing. TC. ―Buster7  00:07, 26 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Saw this come up on my watchlist, but considering the recent AE case and block this month, we're back in the same position as when this nomination was put on hold. In terms of goals of the project, we need to weigh both encouraging editors to remain, but also be wary of things that tend to drive editors out (which I've been trying to vet for other noms in the background since I joined). Some of the problems that came up back in May and again just recently do tend to discourage editor retention, so this nom just might not match with the goals of this project even after taking the wait and see approach. That's about as much as I prefer to say as a followup since I'd prefer to limit future interactions related to them. Kingofaces43 (talk) 18:38, 26 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you both for your input. I think a "Pass" is best for all.―Buster7  20:03, 26 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The block was reversed by consensus so I wouldn't hold it against them (putting aside my own opinion about the reversal). As before I have conflicting views: I've seen undesirable behaviour, but I appreciate that others are genuinely thankful for specific good actions, which is all this recognition requires, as an intentionally low-stakes affair. It can be a good thing to remind the editor of past positive behaviours that were appreciated. isaacl (talk) 21:11, 26 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I'll search thru my drawer of barnstars and trinkets and reach out to this editor over the holidays with a personal pat on the back. AS i've mentioned before I didn't vette them to deeply at the time. I had seen their work and talk with other editor friends and thought they were worthy.

After a few days I will completely delete this entire HOLD thread. Happy Turkey Day To ALL! ―Buster7  21:33, 26 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

There is nothing more difficult than to judge a fellow editor but IMO at this time it would be best to put this nomination off for now. I think that Esaacl puts it very well. BTW Buster, is there a page with previous nominations/comments/decisions? Gandydancer (talk) 23:24, 26 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
At inception I had set up the nomination and accepted nomination pages to be work queues, with discussion occurring on their talk pages. So only the talk pages are archived. isaacl (talk) 23:57, 26 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

HOLD till JUNE 2024 Anniversary[edit]

I nominate Beccaynr to be Editor of the Week for their dedication to making this encyclopedia a better place. From their valuable additions to notable articles, to their moral with users new and old. Always warm welcoming newcomers, see here [1] They are understanding, patient, kind & most importantly willing to take the time to explain in depth their point of view & how things work. A indispensable asset to this site. Their role in adding to Women articles is bar none. Here are some examples, [2] [3] [4] As you search their contributions you’ll see just how deserving this user is of Editor of the Week, thank you!

Elvisisalive95 Thank you for your nomination. Please see User talk:Beccaynr/Archives/2023/June and note that Beccaynr received the Eddy about six months ago, in June of last year. While editors have been nominated more than once and have received a second recognition, the time span here seems a bit short. There is no question that the editor deserves recognition. Soon, I will move this discussion to the talk page and consider putting a HOLD on the nomination for an appropriate time, whatever that might be Buster Seven Talk (UTC) 14:11, 14 February 2024
Buster7 Thank you! I didn’t realize they were awarded that 6 months ago! It doesn’t surprise me, they are truly deserving out of so many users i’ve come across. They never fail to show their kindness and help others to see how a Wikipedian should conduct themselves! I appreciate your response & future actions regarding this matter. I’ll see you around! Maybe an Anniversary Award would be fitting. June 2024 seems like a good time. Buster Seven Talk (UTC) 14:35, 14 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Buster7 I’ll be looking forward to that day for them! Sounds like a very fitting plan. Thank you again. Sincerely, Elvisisalive95 (talk) 14:48, 14 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
