Nominator's rationale: Too little content for an eponymous category--only three articles (other than the main one) and two subcats. (and the Works by cat is pretty slim). ―Justin (koavf)TCM 23:35, 22 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Dual upmerge to Category:Sports venues in Louisville, Kentucky. Contains only one article and has one category. TM 23:20, 22 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Dual Upmerge for Now with no objection if the category ever gets up to 5 or so articles. RevelationDirect (talk) 01:31, 23 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Dual upmerge -- Race courses take a lot of space, so that it is unlikely there will ever be much more. Peterkingiron (talk) 11:41, 24 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Contains no articles and only one category. Upmerge to Category:Sports venues in Baltimore as well. TM 23:13, 22 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Dual Upmerge for Now with no objection if the category ever gets up to 5 or so articles. RevelationDirect (talk) 01:33, 23 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Dual Upmerge per nominator....William, is the complaint department really on the roof? 17:39, 24 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Horse racing venues in the United States by city[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: delete. The remaining subcategories appeared to be nominated separately on tomorrow's discussion page and have been deleted. So the "by city" container category is empty now. (non-admin closure) Marcocapelle (talk) 06:57, 1 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Per WP:SMALLCAT, none of these categories have enough articles. Category:Horse racing venues in New Orleans mainly has redirects in the category. TM 22:45, 22 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment @Namiba: If the subcategories all are deleted (and they should be) then I support deleting this category. However, New Orleans isn't nominated.RevelationDirect (talk) 02:45, 23 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
    • Delete, assuming all the nominated subcategories are all eliminated. RevelationDirect (talk) 02:35, 25 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete -- Race courses take a lot of space, so that it is unlikely there will ever be much more than one or two per city. However the rest of the subcats need a merge similar to the two noms above to the state and a city category, so that this category becomes empty (except of cat-redirects) to prevent orphaning. It is a pity this was not done as a multiple nom. Peterkingiron (talk) 11:45, 24 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • In fact the subcats have already been tagged with a Cfm template, so I've taken the liberty to add two lines to the nomination. Marcocapelle (talk) 14:43, 29 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

American track and field athletes by state[edit]

Propose renaming the following categories:

The following states would be unchanged but have been reverse tagged to cover the alternatives:

Nominator's rationale: To have all the American "state" subcategories for track and field the same; using "athletes" not "people". Preferebly using "athletes" as most of the sports use "athletes" or similar eg baseball players, golfers (the exception is "ice hockey people"); (see eg. Category:sportspeople from California. Note that at present four states out of 21 use "athletes" and the remaining 17 use "people". Also there are separate subcategories for "sports coaches" I have tagged the four "athletes" subcategories for the four states for the reverse change so that both options are tagged and covered. Hugo999 (talk) 22:18, 22 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • There aren't enough articles about coaches to turn this into viable state categories. Koavf is right, but the easiest way to implement this is to rename the people categories to athletes as nominated and then recreate the people categories for miscellaneous people involved in track and field, such as coaches. Marcocapelle (talk) 06:06, 30 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Comment and !vote - given the comments from various people above, wouldn't it be better to keep these categories and simply create subcategories of them for the athletes themselves? Grutness...wha? 00:35, 7 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment: As pointed out above by Marcocapelle there are not enough track and field coaches in Category:American track and field coaches (about 100) to justify a breakdown by state, and I don’t think there will be many “track and field” people apart from coaches (no “owners” ?). Perhaps after renaming the “track and field people” to “track and field athletes” for those “state” subcategories it may be apparent how many "track and people" people including coaches there are, and whether any separate "track and field coach" categories by state are required? Campbell Island group[edit]

The result of the discussion was: rename. -- Black Falcon (talk) 22:58, 7 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Propose renaming the following categories:
Nominator's rationale: The key article is Campbell Island group - the fauna and flora categories relate to the whole group, not just to the main island; the birds category uses the colloquial name for the group (the Campbell Islands). I would be equally happy to have all three categories at Category:Foo of the Campbell Islands, but that would require the key article to also be renamed. Either way, some consistency would be useful, and some indicaton that these categories refer to the whole group of islands. Grutness...wha? 12:29, 22 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
NOTE: nomination changes after @RevelationDirect: and @Peter coxhead:'s !votes. Grutness...wha? 01:10, 24 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The key article is now at Campbell Islands. Grutness...wha? 00:25, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Speedy Per WP:C2D, facilitating concordance between a particular category's name and a related page's name. RevelationDirect (talk) 01:35, 23 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Keep, also per WP:C2D since the main article was renamed with consensus. RevelationDirect (talk) 09:29, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
