The result of the discussion was: Merge. Timrollpickering (Talk) 19:45, 17 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: These categories appear to have the same scope. Most categories like this begin with "WikiProject". DexDor (talk) 21:46, 9 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge per nom. The convention is: WikiProject FooWikiProject Foo articlesFoo articles by importance/quality. -- Black Falcon (talk) 16:52, 16 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: As far as I can see these are the same thing. DexDor (talk) 21:33, 9 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Roman Catholic churches by town (Spain and Israel)[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: Merge/Delete. The names of the targets would have to be considered in a separate discussion. Timrollpickering (Talk) 19:47, 17 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: merge per WP:SMALLCAT, the above Roman Catholic churches categories contain 2 articles each. Upmerging to the churches parent category of the town (e.g. merging Category:Roman Catholic churches in Caudete to Category:Churches in Caudete) is pointless because the churches category will remain equally small, while further upmerging is not possible because none of the towns in which the above churches are located has its own category, e.g. Category:Caudete does not exist. Nominator's rationale: merge per WP:SMALLCAT, all the above Roman Catholic churches categories contain 1 to 4 articles. Upmerging to the churches parent category of the town (e.g. merging Category:Roman Catholic churches in Frascati to Category:Churches in Frascati) is pointless because the churches category will remain equally small, while further upmerging is not possible because none of the towns in which the above churches are located has its own category, e.g. Category:Frascati and Category:Genga do not exist. The merge is a bit more complex than in the nomination above because Italy has Roman Catholic churches categories at the region level but it also has churches categories at the province level. By the way, many of these categories refer to small towns in the province of Macerata (just over 300,000 people live in this province). Marcocapelle (talk) 08:39, 9 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Small categories, unlikely to expand. Dimadick (talk) 14:44, 9 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment why two targets, when one of them is a container one holding the other. Carlossuarez46 (talk) 01:54, 11 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • It is actually not the case that one of them is a container holding the other. One category is a combining a broader churches scope with a narrower geographical level (province), the other is a narrower churches scope (Roman Catholic) with a broader geographical level (region). Admittedly this is not an ideal situation, so if anyone has a proposal to restructure the parents, be my guest. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:37, 11 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Churches by town[edit]

The result of the discussion was: Merge. Timrollpickering (Talk) 19:50, 17 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: merge per WP:SMALLCAT, all the above categories contain only 1 or 2 articles. A single merge is proposed because none of the towns in which the above churches are located has its own category to which it can be merged, e.g. Category:Acquacanina and Category:Appignano do not exist. Note that most of these categories refer to small towns in the Italian province of Macerata (just over 300,000 people live in this province). Marcocapelle (talk) 07:52, 9 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: speedy delete per WP:G6 as redundant category. Project was deleted per Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:WikiProject Tenacious D --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 01:59, 9 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Seems like it should be speedy but I don't see it fitting a criterion: non-existent wikiProject. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 01:22, 9 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was:  Relisted at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2019 January 7#Category:Articles by WikiProject. xplicit 04:05, 7 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Standard for administrative categories versus the actual content of the encyclopedia. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 00:21, 9 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak oppose as the nomination is incorrect; there are many "Category:WikiProject Foo articles" categories (i.e. that don't have the word "Wikipedia"). Two of the current parent category tags should be removed. I might support deletion instead (as the category appears to be rather pointless). DexDor (talk) 16:05, 9 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment @Koavf: No opposition to the change as the category creator, but think a more important change is to rename the child categories that don't state they are Wikiproject categories, e.g. Category:El Salvador articles. SFB 01:11, 10 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
