Nominator's rationale: The current title sounds too unofficial. Eni vak (speak) 22:28, 26 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I understood. How can I withdraw my proposal? Yea, cool! Eni vak (speak) 10:32, 27 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: delete. MER-C 14:53, 3 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Nothing here that would suggest this is needed. The main article and a logo only used in that article. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 16:57, 26 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Immortality in fiction[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: rename. MER-C 14:50, 3 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: In accordance with WP:CATDEF and per multiple other recent renames, clarify that category is for fiction where immortality is a primary aspect, not an incidental element. DonIago (talk) 14:11, 26 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom. Marcocapelle (talk) 17:00, 26 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Clearer scope. Dimadick (talk) 10:36, 27 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support I think that all "in fiction" categories should be renamed this way to remove confusion about what should be added.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 10:37, 27 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - This category is/should be a topic category about the topic of immortality in fiction, as described in the main article Immortality in fiction. Renaming it as proposed would convert it to a set category that lists works of fiction "about immortality", which will be either a small set (fiction is rarely about an abstract topic/concept, and instead works of fiction tend to contain one or more themes) or one that is either subjective or arbitrary (e.g. how prominently must a topic feature in a work of fiction for it to be deemed "about" that topic?). -- Black Falcon (talk) 03:45, 28 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • The category is already being used as a set category. A topic category would contain hardly any articles. Marcocapelle (talk) 05:31, 28 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Perhaps, though I think a more accurate characterization would be that it is a bloated topic category that contains works of fiction that feature immortality as a theme. Even so, I think it is better to prune this category and consider it on its merits than move further in the direction of establishing a subjective or arbitrary set. -- Black Falcon (talk) 05:29, 29 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • The presence or absence of article prose, preferably supported by a reliable source (although one could think of that as an attribution, not categorization, issue), that discusses a work of fiction's treatment/exploration of the topic of immortality. -- Black Falcon (talk) 22:11, 2 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Eastern Orthodox–Catholic sectarian violence[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: rename to Category:Eastern Orthodox–Catholic conflicts. MER-C 14:51, 3 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: delete, sectarian violence is a form of communal violence, for example pogroms. The category mainly contains full wars, which is beyond the topic. (Perhaps alternatively the category could be renamed to Category:Catholic–Eastern Orthodox wars but it is questionable if the wars in this category really were religious wars.) Marcocapelle (talk) 06:09, 26 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
What about "conflicts"? PPEMES (talk) 07:29, 26 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Support ALT Category:Eastern Orthodox–Catholic conflicts. PPEMES (talk) 17:35, 31 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Rename per nom. Some of the conflicts mentioned have genocide (e.g. the Bosnian War has Orthodox Serbs killing Catholic Croats). In another category called the"Shia–Sunni sectarian violence", this category has articles about full wars. SpinnerLaserz (talk) 17:03, 26 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • But was the Bosnian war a religious war at all? Or was it just a matter of territorial expansion? Marcocapelle (talk) 17:11, 26 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Rename per nom. The scope here should include wars following the East–West Schism (1054). Dimadick (talk) 10:38, 27 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support alt rename of Category:Eastern Orthodox–Catholic conflicts as not all were wars. Laurel Lodged (talk) 22:04, 28 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Laurel Lodged. I also have reservations about how far some of the conflicts were strictly religious. The Fourth Crusade was much more about political power than religion. In Bosnia, it was a question of denomination being so intrenched as to become a national identifier. One might as well say that wars between England and France in the 18th century were Protestant-Catholic sectarian violence. The fear of "popery" was certainly used to whip up British nationalism, but that does not make it a religious war. Peterkingiron (talk) 17:24, 31 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
That's true, but categorisation doesn't necessarly require essential properties, does it? Wouldn't accidental do? PPEMES (talk) 17:33, 31 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom. The motivation of conflicts listed in this category (e.g. Fourth Crusade and Yugoslav Wars) is not related to religious debate or disagreements. Alternatively, very mild support for Category:Eastern Orthodox–Catholic conflicts per Laurel Lodged. Place Clichy (talk) 17:30, 2 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
