Nominator's rationale: Eponymous category for a festival with no spinoff content to file in it. As always, everything that exists does not automatically get an eponymous category just to contain itself; events get eponymous categories only if and when they have a large volume of supplementary content beyond just the eponym alone. Bearcat (talk) 23:56, 5 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It would be better the page should be renamed or I will keep on improving the category F5pillar (talk) 08:29, 6 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Please familiarize yourself with how our categorization rules actually work. Every page that exists does not automatically get (or need) its own matching eponymous category. Bearcat (talk) 23:29, 6 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom. Another article has been added to the category but it does not really belong here.Marcocapelle (talk) 19:30, 6 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
its belong there because those are two of Festival the community participate on. The Bida and Nupe community are one community. Bida 'is the head of Nupe community, check out the two link tags page and see F5pillar (talk) 10:26, 7 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Bida Emirate is native Nupe kingdom. And if you could try and checked the article Durbar festival you'll see Bida Emirate Photo in the article. But as you say two article is not enough, OK renamed it to (Festival in Northern Nigeria). And I'll list 6six article that are Festival in North Nigeria. Or any idea you think its better. Your suggestion F5pillar (talk) 20:31, 7 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Bida is a native headquarters of the Nupe people and dominant of Niger state as well FCT and Kwara state, and yet Durbar Festival are participate in Northern Nigeria as well as the Bida lies in Northern Nigeria the Durbar fest are combine ethnic groups festival in North Region of the country, thats why I suggest the renaming of the category to Category:Festival in Northern Region Nigeria. I have 5 fest page that is Northern Nigeria event and cultural ceremony F5pillar (talk) 22:38, 7 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • As it becomes clear that these festivals are taking place in multiple Nigerian regions, a diffusion by region does not make much sense. Simply "Festivals in Nigeria" is the clearest description. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:22, 8 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
OK fine, its okay I understand you know. So There is no need of renaming it to Festival in Northern Region Nigeria

Category:Bus operators in the United Kingdom[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: no consensus. ƏXPLICIT 11:18, 14 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: The entire tree should be renamed to follow Category:Bus operating companies by country. Roy17 (talk) 23:15, 28 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • At least keep in, assuming the bus operators are not owned by the country. Or based in is also a possibility. Marcocapelle (talk) 06:58, 29 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Rename per nom. Category:Companies by country uses 'of' throughout. ('based in' would be better IMO but that that be a major nom.) Oculi (talk) 17:15, 29 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep In the UK most of the transport companies are foreign. They are not "of the United Kingdom", nor are they based here. Rathfelder (talk) 15:28, 1 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Go-Ahead Singapore and Tower Transit Singapore are not Singaporean companies either.--Roy17 (talk) 19:05, 1 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
As this is a sub-sub-cat of Category:Transport organisations based in the United Kingdom, any bus operators not based in the UK should be removed. Oculi (talk) 14:08, 5 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Procedurally that is probably the best way to move forward. Marcocapelle (talk) 19:57, 5 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • With public utility companies the country where it operates is at least as significant as its origing or ownership. Maybe we need overlapping categories. Though of course this may be a peculiarly British problem. Rathfelder (talk) 22:23, 5 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep -- This is the usual term in UK. The individual operators are more in the nature of franchises than companies: it would be quite possible for one company to operate in multiple areas using a local brand. The wish of some WP editors to make the rest of the world conform to the way their country operates is the bane of WP: local (e.g. national) usage should always prevail, but should not dictate the names of parent categories. Peterkingiron (talk) 17:38, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep and consider renaming other categories. There are many bus operators that operate across countries that aren't independent companies and are not covered by the existing scheme. Off the top of my head Megabus in North America operates in more than one country and isn't one company. This is by no means an exclusively British problem. The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: merge to Category:Theravada Buddhist texts. czar 17:49, 5 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Same category. Theravada and Theravada Buddhist are exact synonyms. Farang Rak Tham (Talk) 17:41, 28 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'd like some input from others first, then we can make a choice. But I'd agree with any outcome, as long as the two are merged.--Farang Rak Tham (Talk) 12:18, 29 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment, Theravada on its own is not ambiguous, it does not require adding Buddhism. Marcocapelle (talk) 15:41, 29 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge the other way (with Buddhist) per Paul etc. Johnbod (talk) 18:19, 1 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • I notice that most other discussants have a preference for including Buddhist, so let it be that way. Marcocapelle (talk) 16:01, 5 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Actors from Dedham, Massachusetts[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: merge. MER-C 04:23, 13 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Category with only one article. ミラP 01:26, 28 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom. Marcocapelle (talk) 06:50, 28 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment Is there a way to find articles that were formerly part of this category? I could have sworn there was more than one entry. --Slugger O'Toole (talk) 07:45, 28 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Slugger O'Toole: I tried that, and I found nothing more. I had to remove an article from the cat as being unsourced BLP stuff. ミラP 23:39, 29 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Miraclepine, which article did you remove? If there really is only one entry, I would support the merge. -- Slugger O'Toole (talk) 01:13, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Slugger O'Toole: Bill Doherty Jr. ミラP 01:15, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Miraclepine, I found a source for him. A WP:SELF source, but I think it should suffice. -- Slugger O'Toole (talk) 04:01, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I found another one, Brian Gallivan (by searching on "actor" and "Dedham". There are several actors with close links to Dedham (e.g., went to school there) but I can only find three that really belong in this category (at three, I'm neutral as to whether it should stay or go). Grutness...wha? 03:13, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Grutness, thanks for the legwork. Do you have a source for Gallivan? -- Slugger O'Toole (talk) 04:00, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I was going by what's in the article - but I've found this which confirms it: [1] Grutness...wha? 06:03, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - At three articles, with the potential for more, I am in favor of keeping it. --Slugger O'Toole (talk) 19:37, 31 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Slugger O'Toole: An "Xs from Y" category's growth potential decreases as its specificity increases, and Dedham's already a relative small town, so growth potential is insufficient at this time. ミラP 02:52, 3 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support. Arbitrary intersection of things. Guy (help!) 05:53, 5 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Agreed that the intersection is unlikely, but it's now on par with this one's sibling categories. Could either upmerge the lot to just sit under the parent, or more reasonably, let this be, even if four items in a cat is at the threshold of significance. czar 17:47, 5 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • I found a fifth one: Robert Dunham went to a school in Dedham. ミラP 21:43, 11 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
