Nominator's rationale: Serves no collaborative function. * Pppery * it has begun... 23:02, 5 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete a clear violation of our rules on user categories.John Pack Lambert (talk) 14:29, 6 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per WP:USERCAT: the purpose of user categories is to aid in facilitating coordination and collaboration between users for the improvement and development of the encyclopedia. This categ doesn't help that. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 23:35, 6 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Victims of the Columbine High School massacre[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: delete. Cassie Bernall and Rachel Scott have been merged to Category:Columbine High School massacre; the redirects have not been merged. Good Ol’factory (talk) 01:59, 15 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: As tragic an event as this was, 12 of the 13 articles in this category are redirects to the event itself. There is no need for a category of redirects. User:Namiba 14:27, 5 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment, there are two biography articles but the articles already link directly to the event and vice versa. Marcocapelle (talk) 16:44, 5 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete having such a category for two actual articles is not justified.John Pack Lambert (talk) 14:30, 6 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete I would vote keep if there was a chance for expansion. But it is unlikely that each murder victim will require an individual article. 23:09, 6 April 2021 (UTC)Dimadick (talk)
Note, the two articles in the category should be sorted into the category for the massacre itself.--User:Namiba 13:20, 7 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Main topic articles[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: no consensus. Good Ol’factory (talk) 01:13, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: delete per WP:NONDEF. Besides it is not maintainable, since the content of the parent category on which it is based is dynamic. Marcocapelle (talk) 08:42, 5 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete Per nom. If there is some plausible administrative purpose here, I'm of course willing to consider making the category hidden under WP:PROJCATS. - RevelationDirect (talk) 09:20, 5 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep Neither of the rationales for deletion is valid. The inclusion criterion is very clear: each categorized article matches the category in Category:Main topic classifications. And it is easily maintainable (as a 41-member category tends to be): I just maintained it, as I have regularly over the years. The logic behind the consensus by which the corresponding category was kept, here, applies to this category as well. UnitedStatesian (talk) 12:59, 5 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
    • The main issue is that it is not a defining characteristic, one that reliable sources commonly and consistently define, because it does not depend on sources at all. As for maintenance, there is no system in place to maintain it so if you would stop maintenance nobody would notice and nobody would take over. Marcocapelle (talk) 16:39, 5 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
      • Are you seeing this as helpful to readers to navigate between articles or for editors to maintain the encyclopedia? - RevelationDirect (talk) 20:17, 5 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
      • I have, at various times, maintained this category myself (example), so that's not 100% true. (This does not mean I support keeping it) * Pppery * it has begun... 23:02, 5 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom. ---Just N. (talk) 15:59, 13 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - this is clearly part of the Category:Main topic classifications structure. Yes, we "could" merge these to be top listed in that cat, but I think having them currently split to their own cat helps navigation - one of the main purposes of categorisation, per WP:CAT. - jc37 23:08, 15 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: delete. Good Ol’factory (talk) 01:56, 15 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: WP:NONDEFINING (WP:OVERLAPCAT, WP:PERFCAT, WP:OCAWARD) and WP:V
The Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George is issued by the Royal House of Bourbon-Two Sicilies to practicing Catholics. Recipients tend to fall into the following groupings:
None of these groups seem especially defined by the award, which is generally mentioned in passing. Finally, there have been multiple schisms in the royal family each which gives out rival versions of the award so there is no agreed upon list of the true recipients. There wasn't a list so I created one right here in the main article for any reader interested in the topic. - RevelationDirect (talk) 01:00, 5 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Recipients of the Medal for Outstanding Civic Service[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: delete. Good Ol’factory (talk) 01:55, 15 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Per WP:NONDEFINING (WP:OCAWARD and WP:OVERLAPCAT)
The Medal for Outstanding Civic Service is a former Norwegian award given near retirement to Norwegian politicians but the articles are already well categorized under Category:Norwegian politicians. (The only exceptions are Olav V of Norway and Haakon VII of Norway, who are already well categorized under Category:Norwegian monarchs.) The award typically gets a passing reference in the body of the articles and seems non-defining. There wasn't a list so I created one right here in the main article for any reader interested in the topic. - RevelationDirect (talk) 01:00, 5 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, obvious case of WP:OCAWARD. Marcocapelle (talk) 08:44, 5 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete even more overcategorization by award.John Pack Lambert (talk) 14:34, 6 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. Unlike some others, this medal does seem to be used to honour those who have actually achieved something. Doesn't just seem to have been given to retiring politicians. --
Correct, there are also 2 monarchs in the category. - RevelationDirect (talk) 00:04, 13 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
