- The result of the discussion was: rename to Category:NatWest Group litigation. Good Ol’factory (talk) 01:28, 16 April 2021 (UTC)
- Nominator's rationale: The Royal Bank of Scotland Group was renamed NatWest Group on 22 July 2020. Chrisieboy (talk) 19:05, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
- Rename Per WP:C2D. - RevelationDirect (talk) 00:40, 9 April 2021 (UTC)
- Object though not to the principle. The nom is right as to the renaming. The target ought to be Category:NatWest Group litigation, since it covers the whole group, including Citizens Bank in America and National Provincial, which was one of the banks that merged to form the original National Westminster Bank that was taken over by RBS. My objection is that the whole tree needs restructuring to reflect the change of holding company, nit just one category. Peterkingiron (talk) 16:14, 9 April 2021 (UTC)
- ALT rename to Category:NatWest Group litigation per Peterkingiron. – Fayenatic London 19:48, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
- I agree with Peterkingiron. This is a problem with the way the initial move from RBS Group was accomplished, which I raised with Fayenatic at the time. Chrisieboy (talk) 15:24, 13 April 2021 (UTC)

- The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
- The result of the discussion was: rename. A nomination for the parent categories may be appropriate. Good Ol’factory (talk) 02:09, 15 April 2021 (UTC)
- Nominator's rationale: Contains categories for both Roman Catholic and Eastern Catholic bishops. Laurel Lodged (talk) 17:35, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
- Support per Category:Bishops in the United Kingdom but shouldn't the parents be modified to drop Roman Catholic? Oculi (talk) 18:26, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
- Was the Eastern Catholic church affected by the English reformation? Do they belong here?Rathfelder (talk) 22:27, 7 April 2021 (UTC)
- It's not that the EC were affected by the English reformation, it's that they did not exist at all at that time. So they only came into the UK Post-Reformation. Laurel Lodged (talk) 08:47, 8 April 2021 (UTC)

16th-century Roman Catholic bishops in Colombia[edit]
- The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
- Rename Category:16th-century Roman Catholic bishops in Colombia to Category:16th-century Roman Catholic bishops in New Granada
- Nominator's rationale The place was called New Granada in the 16th century. Colombia is a name adopted in the 19th-century, and applying it before than is totally and completely anachronistic.John Pack Lambert (talk) 15:57, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
- Support per nom. Laurel Lodged (talk) 17:36, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
- Comment The main article is called New Kingdom of Granada (1538–1739), as it only became known as New Granada in the 18th century. South American history is not among my main areas of interest. Were there other bishops there in the 16th century besides the Arcbishop of Santa Fe en Nueva Granada (Bogotá)? Dimadick (talk) 23:24, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
- Good question. There is a whole tree of Category:16th-century Roman Catholic bishops in New Spain diffused by modern country. It would not surprise me if in practice every subcategory would represent one diocese, but I have not checked. Marcocapelle (talk) 04:46, 7 April 2021 (UTC)
- I created this and I support the proposal. Can it be done speedily? I agree we should as far as possible use contemporary country names, but I also think such categories should where possible be linked to the modern name. Rathfelder (talk) 22:30, 7 April 2021 (UTC)
- Agree with the latter, the category can stay as a subcategory of Category:Colombian Roman Catholic bishops. Marcocapelle (talk) 06:03, 8 April 2021 (UTC)
- If anyone thinks any more of my historical bishop categories can be improved please let me know.Rathfelder (talk) 09:10, 8 April 2021 (UTC)

Category:Presidencies[edit]
- The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
- The result of the discussion was: do not merge. Good Ol’factory (talk) 02:06, 15 April 2021 (UTC)
- Propose merging Category:Presidencies to Category:Presidents by country
- Nominator's rationale: there is no difference at all between these two categories. if we distinguished between articles about a president, and articles about a presidency, there might be some basis for such a distinction. however, no such distinction exists. yes, for some major countries, there may be such a distinction, for example, the articles Joe Biden and Presidency of Joe Biden. However, there are not separate articles for other major leaders such as Vladimir Putin of Russia, Xi Jinping of China, Emmanuel Macron of France, Joko Widodo of Indonesia, Sergio Mattarella of Italy, etc etc. Therefore this split in categories serves no useful purpose. these categories seem like simple duplicates of each other. Sm8900 (talk) 13:38, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
- When looking at the content of the country subcategories it appears they are (also) used for topics or people related to the presidency, rather than for biographies of presidents. It is not as simple as it seems. Marcocapelle (talk) 17:17, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
- Keep - merging a category to a subcat would be dubious, but merging a category to a subcat scheme for a subcat would be a disaster. Oculi (talk) 18:54, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
- Keep Merging a category concerning the political office or the term of office into a biographical category is a bad idea. Dimadick (talk) 23:27, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose. A president is a biography; a presidency is a term of office. Not the same thing. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 23:29, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
- Keep per above. "Presidencies" includes more than just individual presidents. Grutness...wha? 01:26, 7 April 2021 (UTC)
- Keep -- This is not primarily about the biography of individual presidents, whereas the target is (or rather its subcategories are). Peterkingiron (talk) 16:28, 9 April 2021 (UTC)
- Keep per above. --Just N. (talk) 16:04, 13 April 2021 (UTC)

- The result of the discussion was: delete. Good Ol’factory (talk) 02:05, 15 April 2021 (UTC)
- Nominator's rationale: Appearing on a particular TV show as a guest star is not a defining characteristic. Fails WP:CATDEFINING. Escape Orbit (Talk) 11:01, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
- Agree. as per nom. --Sm8900 (talk) 13:40, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
- Delete per nom - fails WP:PERFCAT. All contestants are already listed in the key article. Grutness...wha? 01:26, 7 April 2021 (UTC)
- Delete -- Clearly a PERFCAT. Nevertheless, some game show contestants are notable for nothing else. How do we prevent these being orphaned? Peterkingiron (talk) 16:17, 9 April 2021 (UTC)

- The result of the discussion was: rename. Good Ol’factory (talk) 02:05, 15 April 2021 (UTC)
- Propose renaming Category:Arab Zionists to Category:Arab supporters of Israel
- Nominator's rationale: rename to align with Category:Muslim supporters of Israel. Note that a merge is not appropriate, this category also contains converts to Judaism and Christianity. Marcocapelle (talk) 13:43, 13 March 2021 (UTC)
- Rename per nom. The first entry Sarhan Bader has no stated religion in the article, he is only described as an Israeli Arab.John Pack Lambert (talk) 17:19, 18 March 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose'. Cat name should be as sober and short as any possible. Any 'supporters of Israel'-cats sound like ideological confession of sort of desirability. (Points of view of Israel are very special.) Category:Arab Zionists sounds honest and sober scientific! --Just N. (talk) 14:49, 19 March 2021 (UTC)
- Not sure what "honest" means in this context. Zionists is not accurate, Zionism is a Jewish movement and these people are not described as Zionists. Marcocapelle (talk) 15:15, 19 March 2021 (UTC)
Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.

- Support nom -- The category is something of a hotchpotch, including decorated Israeli Arabs; undercover agents of Israeli intelligence; and converts from Islam. They are much more supporters of the State of Israel than of Zionism (the principle of Jewish return to Israel). Peterkingiron (talk) 16:25, 9 April 2021 (UTC)
- Rename per nom. --Just N. (talk) 16:06, 13 April 2021 (UTC)
- Rename Zionism is a very specific movement, and is not synonomous with "supporters of Israel". The target is more accurate of the contents.John Pack Lambert (talk) 15:30, 14 April 2021 (UTC)

- Propose Deleting/Listifying Category:Knights Commander of the Royal Order of Francis I
- Propose Deleting/Listifying Category:Knights Grand Cross of the Royal Order of Francis I
- Propose Deleting/Listifying Category:Knights of the Royal Order of Francis I
- Nominator's rationale: WP:NONDEFINING (WP:OCAWARD)
- The Royal Order of Francis I was originally an award from the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies but only a few recipients from the 1800s have articles including botanist Vincenzo Tineo, manufacturer Edward Thomason and lithography Marcellin Jobard. One of the claimants to the kingdom's royal family reactivated the award but this time to honor interfaith dialogue so it was given to Desmond Tutu, George Carey and Nasser Khalili. King George Tupou V, President Ali Abdullah Saleh, and Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher also received the award for more obscure reasons. Despite the diversity of recipients, one things the articles have in common is that they consistently treat the award as non-defining. After my edits, all the category contents are now listified right here in the main article for any reader interested in the topic. - RevelationDirect (talk) 00:10, 6 April 2021 (UTC)

- Propose Deleting/Listifying Category:Recipients of the Banga Bibhushan
- Nominator's rationale: Per WP:NONDEFINING (WP:OCAWARD)
- The Banga Bibhushan is a state-level award from West Bengal, India that was established in 2011. The recipients skew heavily toward actors and other performers like Rudraprasad Sengupta, Mithun Chakraborty, Goutam Ghose, and Amala Shankar. The recipients don't seem defined by the award and are about evenly split between those that mention the award in passing and those that don't mention it at all. The recipients are already listified right here in the main article for any reader interested in the topic. - RevelationDirect (talk) 00:10, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
- Background We deleted other state level awards from Kentucky, United States and Saxony, Germany here and here. - RevelationDirect (talk) 00:10, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
