The result of the discussion was: merge.Fayenatic London 21:54, 12 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Would be better suited category name going forward. Also matches newly created Category:National Basketball Association standings templates by division. –Piranha249 (Discuss with me) 23:31, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: split.Fayenatic London 07:16, 25 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: split, it is an overly broad category, align this with parent categories Category:Christian belief and doctrine and Category:Christian practices. Marcocapelle (talk) 19:52, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Interpretation[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: split and disambiguate to Category:Heritage interpretation and other meanings.– Fayenatic London 22:33, 1 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: The sub-categories and articles in this category are all wildly different things that happen to have the word "interpretation" in their name. Note that the article interpretation is a disambiguation page for exactly this reason. However, a few of the subcats and articles can be meaningfully grouped as part of the discipline known as heritage interpretation, which is what museums, natural parks, historic sites, etc. call the process of explaining their topic to the public. --Kevlar (talkcontribs) 19:28, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Hinduism in Asia by city[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: merge. Good Ol’factory (talk) 02:20, 4 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: upmerge, unnecessary category layer, it is the only subcategory of its parent. Marcocapelle (talk) 19:15, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Upmerge per nom. Even if categories existed for Hinduism in other cities, there'd be so few of them (Suva, maybe, or Georgetown, Guyana, or Bradford, but that's about it) that dividing by continent would be superfluous. Grutness...wha? 07:28, 28 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge for Now Doesn't aid navigation for now. -RevelationDirect (talk) 00:49, 29 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge for Now. Well, South Africa and Trinidad/Tobago seem to have a notable Hindu population as well. --Just N. (talk) 16:16, 3 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: withdrawn (non-admin closure) Rathfelder (talk) 20:59, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Most of the articles are in both categories. I'd like some guidance as to whether they are essentially the same, or whether one should be a subcategory of the other. My impression is that "theologian" is not a term generally used in Islam. Category:Religious scholars by religion contains both Category:Christian theologians and Category:Muslim scholars of Islam (and Category:Sikh scholars). Rathfelder (talk) 15:54, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • If merged, it should be a reverse merge. Scholars of Islam is a broader term encompassing the entire history of Islam while theologians is only (sometimes) used in recent times. Marcocapelle (talk) 17:22, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: merge in the way proposed by Marcocapelle. Good Ol’factory (talk) 02:18, 4 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: These two parent categories dont fit together. They seem to be intended to perform similar functions. Rathfelder (talk) 20:59, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Lists of officeholders lists[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: rename to Category:Lists of lists of officeholders. Good Ol’factory (talk) 02:13, 5 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Quite simply, I flat out don't get what "lists of lists" is even supposed to mean. At the very least I don't see any possible meaning reflected in the contents. Anomalous+0 (talk) 08:42, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Very abstract indeed. Wouldn't it be less abstract to only categorize lists, not making Lists of lists? Of course this is a question not directly related to the nomination. Marcocapelle (talk) 06:42, 28 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Presidential schools in the United States[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: delete. Good Ol’factory (talk) 02:16, 4 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: No evidence that this is a defining characteristic, per WP:CATDEF, rather it is a trivial receptacle of items named after presidents. To quote the PROD at the corresponding list: "This is a made-up concept, there is no such thing as a "presidential school". These are wholly unrelated things whose namesakes have something in common for various reasons. Notability not established with substantive sources". --Animalparty! (talk) 05:50, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom and per WP:SHAREDNAME. Marcocapelle (talk) 06:45, 28 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per WP:SHAREDNAME. While they don't have the same name, they do have the same type of name which is no more defining. -RevelationDirect (talk) 00:41, 29 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete This is purely a categorization by shared name. An inadequate one at that, since there is no clear reason why it is just cherry picking these from a much larger lists of educational institutions named after those who have served as presidents of the US. Since at least one of these institutions was named before the person it was named for even became a US president, the connection is not in any way defining.John Pack Lambert (talk) 12:18, 3 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per WP:SHAREDNAME. --Just N. (talk) 16:34, 3 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Category:International Young Democrat Union people[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: rename. Good Ol’factory (talk) 02:14, 4 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Per WP:CATNAME and WP:OCASSOC
This is really just a truth in advertising rename since 5 of the 6 articles are for people who were chairs of deputy chairs of the International Young Democrat Union, which is a clearly defining role. The IYDU is an international umbrella organization of conservative youth organizations and people who were active in one of those national affiliates should not be in this category. For instance, Zach Howell is already under Category:College Republican National Committee chairs and his article makes no mention of the IYDU. - RevelationDirect (talk) 00:22, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Members of the Lambrakis Democratic Youth[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: no consensus. In light of this, we could really do with the article Lambrakis Democratic Youth. Kind of regrettably, Category:Lambrakis Democratic Youth exists with only this category as the contents. Good Ol’factory (talk) 02:27, 23 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Per WP:NONDEFINING (WP:PERFCAT & WP:OVERLAPCAT)
English Wikipedia doesn't have an article on the Lambrakis Democratic Youth and Greek Wikipedia only has a stub, but it appears to be a short-lived leftist student group during the 1965 Royal Coup in Athens. For people who were short-term activists this feels like a performance category while those who stayed active in leftist politics are already somewhere under Category:Greek socialists or Category:Greek communists. I copied the current category contents right here so no work is lost if another editor wants to start a main article. - RevelationDirect (talk) 00:22, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support, Sotiris Petroulas is already in Category:Greek activists and for the other articles this is not a defining characteristic. Marcocapelle (talk) 04:46, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. This organization is not just a "short-lived leftist student group" but maybe the major political organization of the Greek wave of the 1960s civil-rights and youth counter-culture movement that shook the world. It should not be confused with e.g. the youth wing of a political party, or a student association, as it is none of both but a distinct political organization. Events around this organization are the basis of the famous Costa-Gavras 1969 film Z. If you mean by short-lived that some comparable groups in Western European or North American countries outlived it, well, it was suppressed by the 1967 dictatorship. Zenkyoto (in Japan) or Gauche prolétarienne (in France) are examples of comparable groups from the same era. It is certainly defining. Place Clichy (talk) 15:09, 28 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Place Clichy: That all sounds pretty interesting and would make a great main article (hint, hint). - RevelationDirect (talk) 00:48, 29 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete We do not categorize people by membership in political movements. We only categoize politicians who served in actually offices or at least were official candidates by membership. We in general avoid mass categorization by political affiliation, although we have allowed some creep categorization that really needs to be ended.John Pack Lambert (talk) 12:20, 3 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. Just as Place Clichy said this is a very special group of essential influence in Greek history. Sometimes the article texts don't point to it b/c the editors are a bit lazy or ignorant. And Greece is so far away for most contributors here. --Just N. (talk) 16:47, 3 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
