Pakistani Bengali film[edit]

  • Merge to Category:Bengali-language films, which several that I sampled are already in. Bengali is not (or hardly) spoken in West Pakistan (now Pakistan) so that these are inevitably films from East Bengal (= East Pakistan, now Bangladesh). An alternative rename might be "East Bengal films". This is inevitably a category for the period before this became Bangladesh. Peterkingiron (talk) 16:56, 19 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Peterkingiron: It is not matter if modern Pakistan speak Bengali or not. The main point is these Bengali-language films, made during Pakistan period, are treasure of both Pakistan and Bangladesh. This category has connection with Category:Bangladeshi films that means anyone can find these films from the category. So we should not merge the categories. "East Bengal films" isn’t a suitable name because East Bengal existed till 1955. After that there was East Pakistan (Note that the first Pakistani Bengali film was released in 1956).
