The result of the discussion was: rename (non-admin closure) Marcocapelle (talk) 04:48, 26 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: The artist is commonly known as Tini and songs are credited to them as Tini therefore this would follow the standard naming convention. ≫ Lil-Unique1 -{ Talk }- 22:15, 18 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: rename to Category:World War II prisoner of war massacres by Nazi Germany. plicit 11:38, 10 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: "prisoners" (in plural) is incorrect English; using "Germany" implies that the nation committed the massacres Eric talk 21:08, 18 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
additional note: In my original proposal I neglected to suggest a vocabulary change from "massacres" to "murders". The article that brought this category to my attention was the one on Franz Strasser, which refers to the murder of five POWs by Strasser and a police chief in an incident that I don't think most native English speakers would term a "massacre". A couple dictionary entries for massacre: AHD, Cambridge. Eric talk 11:24, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: The Defence Force of Antigua and Barbuda doesn't use "Royal" in its name. Peter Ormond 💬 14:11, 18 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: delete per WP:C1. (non-admin closure) Qwerfjkltalk 16:04, 3 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: The Defence Force of Antigua and Barbuda doesn't use "Royal" in its name. Peter Ormond 💬 14:08, 18 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • A wrong name is not a reason to delete, it is a reason to rename. However, delete as a redundant category layer with just a single subcategory. Marcocapelle (talk) 19:01, 18 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge -- an inaccurate name requires a rename, not deletion. Peterkingiron (talk) 17:04, 19 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Note that the discussion about the subcategory has just been closed as merge, so this one will soon be empty. Marcocapelle (talk) 04:32, 31 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment This category has been emptied. Liz Read! Talk! 20:37, 2 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: keep. (non-admin closure) Qwerfjkltalk 21:56, 30 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: This category about a village only has two entries, one of which is the village itself, and the other a small cluster of houses nearby. Feline Hymnic (talk) 13:46, 18 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nominator....William, is the complaint department really on the roof? 10:45, 21 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep at least unless Category:People from Langley Park, County Durham is deleted, generally as far as I'm aware if there is a set category like a people from category then a category for the place is generally automatically acceptable, if the nominator wants delete this category they should get the people from category deleted first or at the same time as. Note that there is also Category:Langley Park F.C. players but its based in Ushaw Moor. Also the village has a population of 4,598 which is probably large enough for a category anyway. Crouch, Swale (talk) 17:13, 21 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom. Category:People from Langley Park, County Durham can also exist without this parent category. Marcocapelle (talk) 05:10, 22 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've added 3 more articles so we're now up to 5 articles in total but as long as the people from category exists isn't a topic category automatically accepted for inclusion and instead the set category should be nominated first or at the same time as the topic category? This may not be the case with things like a band's songs but places generally as far as I'm aware at least would be accepted if there is a set category. Even ignoring if a village with 4,598 qualifies as a WP:SMALLCAT. Crouch, Swale (talk) 16:31, 22 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Isn't that just that the topic categories haven't been created? As opposed to the fact that they shouldn't exist. Even assuming a set category did not guarantee a topic category its reasonably likely that a place large enough to have a people from category would be large enough to have a few articles that exits or at least could exist on the place and if not the people from category should be nominated first or at the same time. If after the people from category was deleted there was only the main article left in the topic category it could be deleted under WP:C2F. Perhaps this needs to be discussed if a set category guarantees a topic category, IMO the answer is yes. Crouch, Swale (talk) 16:13, 23 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • The answer should be no. It is not different at all from a band and its songs. Please ping me if you'd start a broader discussion at a different forum. Marcocapelle (talk) 21:10, 23 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • I though there might have been a consensus at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2011 June 16#Category:Against (American band) but that doesn't seem to have been the case as I can't find any sub categories and no mention of them was mentioned in the discussion. It makes no sense to say that a place (or a band) is large/important enough to have a people from or songs by category but can't have a topic category. If it is deemed that the place/band wasn't large/important enough to have a category its likely you would be able to use that reason to delete the set category. Crouch, Swale (talk) 16:38, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Generally Wikipedia contains far more articles that you would expect to find in a set category rather than in a topic category. By creating a topic category with very few articles for every set category that does have a significant amount of articles would turn the category trees into a jungle. The result of the discussion was: split. (non-admin closure) Qwerfjkltalk 21:57, 30 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: The remainder of Category:Transgender people by occupation just uses "transgender" following Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2022 May 5#Transgender and transsexual categories, but some have sub-cats using "Non-binary". Kate Bornstein, Ty Defoe and Taylor Mac appear to be non-binary. – Fayenatic London 13:29, 18 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: delete (non-admin closure) Marcocapelle (talk) 05:03, 26 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: WP:SMALLCAT and not part of a wider categorization scheme by nationality. The single member page is already within other sub-categories of all three parent categories, so deletion was suggested by user:Endwise at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2022 May 5#Transgender and transsexual categories. – Fayenatic London 13:09, 18 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: These used to contain images but those are now on Commons, see commons:category:Rider-Waite tarot deck. The first one could be merged speedily WP:C2F but, as it used to have more content, a record of the decision may be useful. – Fayenatic London 12:41, 18 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: Rename. – Fayenatic London 08:40, 29 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: The suborder Micromonosporineae is no longer in common use. The family Micromonosporaceae encompasses the same genera as the obsolete Micromonosporineae. Furthermore, Micromonosporineae redirects to Micromonosporaceae. Ninjatacoshell (talk) 02:56, 18 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
