Nominator's rationale: WP:OCAT by intersection of characteristics. Apart from these two categories, Wikipedia does not otherwise have an established scheme of creating "X-Y joint production" categories for every possible combination of national film industries that might have collaborated on jointly producing films, and it would not be wise to start now -- if we keep these, then we would also need to start categories for up to 32,000 other combinations of countries whose film industries might have worked together on films (e.g. Canada+UK, Canada+France, Canada+Mexico, Canada+Cuba, Canada+Italy, US+UK, US+France, India+Pakistan, India+Canada, India+US, and on and so forth.), with the added bonus that some films even get into three or four or five country combinations and thus explode the number of possible categories even further.
This just scales out to the point of total unmaintainability, and these two combinations aren't so much more special than all other possible combinations as to warrant special treatment. If a film is a joint production of two or more countries' film industries, then it should obviously be categorized for all of the relevant countries individually, but there's no value in a separate "X+Y" tree for coproductions on top of categorizing for "X" and "Y" on their own. Category:British Indian films is not for UK-India film collaborations, it's for UK-produced films about Indo-British characters, as in Bend It Like Beckham or Amar Akbar & Tony, regardless of whether the Indian film industry had any collaborative involvement in them or not. But the category states that "Films created by the British Indian community, as well as British films starring a majority Indian origin cast and Indian films set in the United Kingdom." We can see many film articles produced by British company in this category. For example, The Accidental Prime Minister (film) has this category. @Bearcat: are you sure about your claim? The category says the opposite. I can see this article says that it is a joint production film. So I think maybe we can keep joint production films in this type of categories. That description does not imply that all or even most of the films in the category are UK-India coproductions — you need only look at the articles in the category to see that the overwhelming majority of them are either "exclusively UK-produced without Indian partners" films about UK characters of Indian background, or "exclusively Indian-produced without UK partners" films about Indian characters of UK background. There are very few films in the category that are actually described by their articles as being genuine coproductions of the UK and Indian film industries, and even those very few are still there on the basis of being thematically Indo-British in content, not on the basis of having both Indian and UK production money behind them per se. We simply do not categorize films for the latter characteristic at all — again, what the contents of the category have in common is not "UK-India coproduction", because the vast majority of them are no such thing, but "stories about Indo-British characters".
